Not to mention the fact that for a weak swimmer like myself, the added bouyancy also decreases the need for kicking (at least is does for me), so I feel that I can sustain my pace for longer.
Another interesting test would be comparing neoprene shorts v regular swimwear. As a novice swimmer I've found them to be a great help in terms of boosting confidence and getting the feel of a better position in the water. 😀
I still have mine but it's even tighter and it didn't shrink. It would be interesting you could find a 50m salt water pool and get a time. That would quantify the advantage open water ocean swimmers have.
I swam with a wetsuit for a while in sub 65 degrees, but problem was that in cooler water, I like to start with some head-up breaststroke to get acclimated. Couldn't do that with a wetsuit. Then there was the fact that I felt so constricted in my wetsuit it seemed akin to swimming wearing a strait jacket (not that I would know what that's like lol). It kept me a bit warmer but aside from that, I do better without.
Be interesting to see good swimmers vs crap swimmers. I'm a lot faster in a wetsuit, but the coach at our Tri club says he's one of the few people he knows who is slower.
@@elizabethsabit3883 : I used to swim with my surf wetsuit, It was perfect. Until I invested in a real swim wet suit. What a difference!! With my swimsuit, I really feel much stronger in the water. You will definitely win seconds per 100m with a real swimsuit. But it is in no way necessary. Just depends on you goal and budget....
Great video and thank for not making it 24 minutes. I clicked on it because I knew there would be no fluff.
thanks!

I feel like I could watch you guys swim for hours. So smooth!
Great video thanks. If you did the wetsuit swim first I would assume the gap would be slightly bigger.
Great video 👍. Thank you 😊.
Do you have an idea about swim suits like the Powerskin R-Evo+ Open water Arena? Is it faster or less?
A $1.200 wetsuit needs to make me faster😅
Good stuff! Always love your videos
thanks!
Hey nice pool ! Where was that ?
Great pool
North Bellarine Aquatic Centre
If you have an old full body tech suit, give it a try for comparison.
I threw mine out last year, wish I hadn't!

I was thinking, hey, I'm not much slower than you guys, I'm also around 2 mins. Then I realized you're doing 200m not 100m 😀 OMG!!

Also must take into account the time lost to remove it in a tri.
200m in 2:13? Lol you are nearly twice as fast as me 😂😂😂
What causes a wriggle? How do you stop it, I think I wriggle side to side
Lots of things can like a crossover, lifting head to breathe, fatigue, poor posture in the water
I imagine that incremental gains with a wetsuit for you are smaller in comparison to someone who is at 2:00/100m
definitely, the worse your body position the more it will help you
What is the thickness of your wet suit?
Varies but 3mm and 2mm then 1.5mm through shoulders
@@EffortlessSwimming can i use my scuba wet suit 3mm from shoulder to foot sir?

@@EffortlessSwimmingwhere did you buy your wet suit
At ur level, I'm expecting timing below 2 minutes.
Why didn't he try to beat his personal best record?
