Thanks for the vid! It was super helpful. I’m headed to do this trip this coming weekend. Even though some else has done all the planning and I’m just going for the ride, this was a super helpful video. I already want to plan a second trip with my family and I haven’t even gone yet.
About to paddle this trip and camp overnight this weekend. Your video was so helpful! And now I know to camp out at Horseshoe Bend Campground. Thank you!
Your video was so great . Much information for people that are planning a trip like this . We are going there this summer to do the float trip . Thanks so much . Your video talks about things we've not heard of in other videos.
There is a kiosk beside the road where you buy a permit for $30 per vehicle when we went there in late 2018. There is also a similar permit fee required for powered watercraft. Thankfully paddle craft are free. Camping on the beaches in Glen Canyon is free. They have fire rings and composting toilets.
You two are great and what an awesome video. We just got our SUPs in the last few months and this is very inspirational. Love your Airstream, been looking at them for a while and I think we’re going to an Airstream ranch tomorrow to see in person.
You’re going to have a blast with your SUPs! We get out on the water wayyy more than we used to. They’re such an easy way to experience a lake or river in a new one. Have fun at that Airstream ranch! Sounds like a cool experience!
You guys were looking for Waterholes Canyon I believe.... went past it by a 1/2 mile or so... great hike tho... small beach front. Next time you're in the area, you'll have to drive down to Cliff Dwellers to grab a post paddle meal... great spot to visit, and absolutely the best food I've had after paddling the river... ever...
Hey Guys - Great job. I found your channel today looking for Airstream info. I just purchased 27 GT FBQ, same floor plan as yours and will be doing my own solar. Im sure you'll do a video on your solar. I look forward to it. I noticed a Berky on your kitchen counter. What size do you have? Ive been wanting a large one but didn't think it would fit. Do you have an Amazon store? Shoot me a link if you do. Im a buyer. Good luck in your adventures.
Hey Tony, thanks for watching! Congrats on the new trailer! The 27FB just might be the best floor plan out there. A video on our solar system is at the top of our list! We get a ton of questions in campgrounds and over on TikTok, so we want to get a video posted ASAP. We did the install ourselves, and there was a bit of a learning curve but it's totally doable by just about anyone. We have the Royal Berkey ( amzn.to/2Tj5njc ). It fits perfectly under the cabinet in the space behind the round sink. I think it would still fit behind the new square sinks, but you might want to take a quick measurement to confirm. We love our Berkey-we can safely drink questionable water and it always tastes great! The 3.25 gallons is perfect for the two of us because we'll drink almost that much on a hot day. We're working on an Amazon store, but in the mean time that link above will work. Thanks for the support!
Loved the videos about Lake Powell and the Colorado River. We just purchased our own boards and definitely want to do this trip. When you guys went on the hike into Antelope Canyon, did you worry about securing your equipment? I would hope no one would steal things but unfortunately, not everyone is honest.
You’re going to love having your own boards! When we hiked into the canyon, we brought our bags with us but left boards, paddles, and life vests behind. Over time, we’ve become more relaxed about this sort of thing. There are some unscrupulous people out there, but they’re far outnumbered by honest people. Not that theft doesn’t happen, but it takes more worried energy than it’s worth to go beyond basic security measures like locking our door. Enjoy your trip to Lake Powell!
Well done on the video! Very informative! Do you paddle this section often? We usually go a few times a year... would love to have you all join us on our next adventure out there!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video! This was our first time paddling it, but it was so incredible that we would certainly do it again. Will let you know if we do!
We spent five nights on the Colorado a few years back on a rafting trip. Life changing experience! A few questions, if you don't mind: how many miles did you paddle each day and how long did it take? Is it possible to camp for two nights, taking a more leisurely approach? Thanks for posting this video with such valuable information! (Just discovered your channel and subbed.)
We did the trip in 2 days/1 night. Each day was about 4 hours and 7 miles of paddling, plus a couple stops along the riverside. Our pace felt pretty leisurely, but you could certainly take two nights to do it.
Thanks for the awesome and informative video!! Is there a fee to park your car there overnight? I’m hoping to do this in May, is that a good time of year?
A pass is required to park overnight. You can purchase a park pass from the kiosk, or use an America the Beautiful pass like we did. That's the pass that gets you into any federal fee area (including national parks) for only $80/year. May is the perfect time to go! It's warm enough to appreciate the cold water, but not yet unbearably hot.
Best months are probably March-May or October-November. You could see some pretty extreme heat or nighttime low temperatures otherwise. If your kids are comfortable camping and riding in a kayak, it could definitely be a good family trip. There are no whitewater sections. You could also make it a day trip by taking the shuttle boat only part way up river towards the dam. Have fun!
Man this was awesome video. The Colorado River look so nice man. I want to take my family kayak camping on the Colorado River but I have a big family me , wife , 6 boys , & a granddaughter so I have 9 kayaks to haul. But we want to try it out. I do have a question though? I like your Chaco sandals that you we're wearing. Would you recommend the sandals to wear for comfort. I see a lot of kayaking people wearing them. I went to one of my local camping store to try them on but I could not get my big toe to fit through the toe loop. I have big very very extremely wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My big toe is 2" inches wide & the rest of my toes are 1" inches wide. It's a very very extremely wide foot. They said I might need to get the ones without the toe loop but I haven't seen one yet in the stores that carry in them. Everybody is carrying to toe Loop one. I have to kayak Barefooted 👣 styles cuz I can only wear flip flops because my foot out-grow shoes , socks , & boots when i was 18 years old which was 30 some years. & I'm worrying about my kids cuz all 6 of my boys have very wide feet too except for my 3th son John who's foot is the exact same identical twin to my foot. He is a chubby fat boy like his dad with a sz13 4 EEEE wide with big toe that are equally straight across making his foot very very wide at lil over 4 1/2 inches wide from his big toe to his lil toe & he has to kayak Barefooted 👣 styles as well too. I apologize for this being long but I appreciate if you could let me know about the Chacos sandals. Again a great video.
Chacos are great! They last forever and are super comfy once you get them adjusted. Definitely look for the ones without the big toe strap. Sierra Trading Post frequently has good sales.
@@ThisWyldeLife man that is awesome to hear. I would like to try to get a pair for me and my 6 boys cuz we all have very wide feet especially me and my 3th son we have very very extremely wide feet. Both of My flip-flops broke me last summer at the same time while I was talking and let's be barefooted 👣 for the rest of the day and I was far away from home with no other Footwear that will fit my foot. We had to eat dinner and go to the grocery store and Walmart and I had to do that barefooted 👣 Style. I was able to sneak into the fast-food restaurant barefooted 👣 but I'm really surprised that Walmart did not say anything to me about walking around in there store barefooted 👣 & the grocery store too. Customers inside the store were staring at me a little crazy but they do that even when I wearing flip-flops because they can't believe how wide my foot is. Imma try to see if I can be a pair. Thank you so much I appreciate this. It is very very difficult trying to find Footwear for extremely wide foot that is 6 1/2 inches wide with big chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across. I wish my toes were at a 45-degree angle like everybody else's toes is instead of straight across cuz it will be a lot easier to try to fit into Footwear. Thank you so much.
Yes! We own a pair of iRocker inflatable SUPs ( bit.ly/3xHIyVh ). They fit in a large backpack when rolled up, so we can easily store them in our rooftop box when not in use. Make sure to grab the electric pump, too. The hand pump is a bigger workout than paddling!
I don’t know why female dogs love getting their backs into grass etc way more than male dogs do, but it was funny to watch her do that. I’ve dog sat probably 50 dogs in my life and every single female dog does that rolling around thing ( especially in a new environment) but only a couple of the male dogs have. I just would like to understand what that is about.

Wow - fantastic video!!!! Thanks so much for sharing all of these great tips, and those shots of the Colorado River are UHMAZING!!!
The Colorado River through the Four Corners region is definitely one of the West's most scenic destinations!
Great video! Explained everything very well. Looking forward to doing this trip soon.
Glad you found it helpful! Have fun out there!

Awesome! We have 13 ladies doing this paddle at the beginning of June; but we aren’t camping, we are staying at Marble Canyon Lodge.
Have an amazing trip!
what room #?

Can you do this without the backhaul service? We were thinking to put a truck at the top, and at the bottom. Lmk thank you. We are going on August.
What month did you go? I don’t want fight for a camp site. Great video thanks
We went in early May. Although conditions were ideal, we actually had no trouble finding a campsite. Have fun! It's an awesome trip.
Do you have a map with the scenic areas and stops for sight seeing or attractions?
Where did u put in and take out at also camping allowed on the river?

Thanks for sharing this. Really want to do. What are the best months? Is it difficult to bring kids?

@@bossqian sure thing!
What time of year did you paddle there where you encountered the afternoon headwinds? Monsoon season?
We were there in late April. It was pretty windy throughout the area.

What’s the best month to go? Not a fan of strong wind or extreme heat. Will end of May/beginning June work?
It could be pretty hot by the end of May. Expect upper 90s, maybe even over 100º. Your best bet to avoid the heat is to go in April or October.
