- Getting feedback from writing groups, beta readers, agents, and editors is just fine. But once the story or book is finished, it’s okay not to listen to criticism. It’s time to move on, and hopefully hear from the readers who liked what you’ve done.

Thanks! We'll get there, one subscriber at a time.
Love this! I need reminders to not criticize myself or others so much.
Don't we all.
Excellent as always 😀
Thank you, sir.
You are always encouraging. Thank you.
You're always welcome.
Thank you!
My pleasure!
Thanks, Bill. Good advice. I've wasted too much time believing the negative things people have said about my writing (and me). There are two quotes I think of all the when I write: "We owe to each other to tell stories." (Neil Gaimon) and "The first duty of love is to listen [and/or read]." (Paul Tillich) Nothing about "criticize" there. It's excellent advice to let go of all the criticism. We're just telling stories and listening. Question: Is it worth hiring an expert to analyze your stuff? What about writing groups that do critical reading? I've never experienced either, but I do want to get better. I know practice is key. Moving forward, as you said. Thanks again.
I have used neither writing groups nor experts/editors, though some people swear by them. People hire me to help them in the way you're referring, and I do my best, but I always try to steer them back to themselves. In the end, our job is to learn to listen to our own unerring guidance.
@@BillKenower , the hour I spent with you was gold. It was incredibly helpful, and so is your book. Two days after I met with you, I got one of my poems published.
Quickest success story ever!
