I asked Credo to supply me with a list of sunscreens and SPF foundations that they would recommend if my goal was to avoid sunscreen boosters, and they responded with the following. These are indeed ones that seemed to me to actually just contain mineral sunscreens, and so that is good reassurance, I think.
    Hi Lisa,
Thank you for your patience! Here is a list of sunscreens and brands we recommend checking out:
Suntegrity, Plumscreen, Kinship, Kinfield, Iris & Romeo Best Skin Days
Very general rule of thumb that might be helpful on your search going forward, you may want to aim to find SPFs with zinc oxide at 20% or higher as this means boosters may not be used.
Let us know if you have any further questions!
    Kindly,
    Stefani

Another sunscreen booster that i found is .Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate Whether this is actually an unapproved chemical sunscreen is thus far unclear to me.

This video is amazing! Im 37 and basically live like you in the way that I don't wear sunscreen for all the reasons you've mentioned. And if I do occasionally, it's only non-nano zinc. But never on me face. I wear a hat and avoid the sun when the UV index is at it highest. I also refuse to use retinoids for the exact same reason you've mentioned, it does not make sense to me to make my skin more sensetive to the sun. I also have very sensetive skin and are very careful with what I put inside and on my body and research a lot as well.
I've only watched until the retinol part but had to write a comment now to remember 😆 thank you, Madeleine

Hi, Lisa! I don't mean to beat a dead horse on this, but I wanted to follow up with info I've received. People are recommending a couple of Austrailian brands. I know they have different laws than we do regarding sunscreen ingredients, so maybe they are safer? Anyway, Blue Lizard and Naked Sundays have been recommended to me. I can't recall if those were already on your list of good options or not. I need to screenshot your list! :) Thanks!
By the way, I did email Naked Sundays and asked if they have any sunscreen boosters in their products, so hopefully I’ll hear back from them on Monday. I also asked what ingredients are enabling them to achieve 50+ SPF in one of their products labeled as mineral.

Oh, I definitely want to keep talking about this and then to try out some more products myself.
I have Blue Lizard Sensitive Face Mineral Sunscreen SPF30 ($18) on my list of mineral-only sunscreens with nano minerals.
I have Naked Sundays Collagen Glow SPF50 ($40) on my list of mineral-only sunscreens with non-nano minerals. It does have 22.5% micronized non-nano zinc on the ingredient list, and so maybe that could explain why the SPF is so high. I wonder about the consistency of that, with such a high percentage of non-nano zinc, though. it also could be that one of the ingredients is a sunscreen booster of which I am not yet aware - here is the ingredient list:
Adansonia Digitata Seed Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside, Citrullus Lanatus Seed Oil, Coco Caprylate/Caprate, Disodium EDTA, Gluconolactone, Glycerin, Hydrolysed Soy Protein, Iron Oxides, Isostearic acid, Octyldodecanol, PEG-30 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Proline, Purified Water, Rice Amino Acids, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Chloride, Xanthan Gum
Thanks for continuing to look into this and to report your findings here! ❤

    • @lisapetrison-beautyreviews
      @lisapetrison-beautyreviews  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

i looked up the Tarte foundation that you mention and am not seeing any sunscreen boosters in it. The fact that the SPF is relatively low also is a clue that they are not using sunscreen boosters. Personally, I actually am feeling particularly interested in mineral sunscreens with an SPF that is lower than 30, since I feel that those may give me some sun protection in an acceptable formula while being less likely to irritate my skin. This one does have retinyl palmitate (a form of retinol) in it and i have not done well with that though.
All of the sunscreen boosters are stated as. having benefits that don't have anything to do with sun protection. But it does look like from that Harvard study that ethyl ferulate is a pretty good chemical sunscreen, regardless of why people say that they are using it.
Thanks for helping to look into this! ❤

My observation in general is that the history of the chemical industry tends to be that when specific chemicals are found to be unsafe in various ways, the chemical industry then introduces chemicals that are slightly different but that haven't yet been proven to be unsafe. And then that eventually, the new versions are usually shown to be just as bad as the old ones. Which is all a result of living in a world where chemicals are presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty. So I'm not sure about the Korean sunscreens. i would be interested in seeing if i react to them though, since I do react to all the chemical sunscreens that i have tried so far. ❤

This product contains four chemical sunscreens that are approved in the U.S. and that i have not seen in very many formulas (though admittedly I have not researched chemical sunscreens very much).
      1. Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate: This is a chemical sunscreen agent that absorbs UVB and short UVA rays.
      2. Ethylhexyl Triazone: Also known as Octyl Triazone, it is a chemical UV filter that primarily absorbs UVB rays.
      3. Methylene Bis-benzotriazolyl Tetramethylbutylphenol: This is a broad-spectrum UV filter that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. It is also known as Tinosorb M.
      4. Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone: This is another chemical UV filter that primarily absorbs UVB rays.
This does seem to get good user reviews and looks like it could be a good formula for those who would like to try a chemical sunscreen with some of the lesser-used active ingredients in it. I especially like the fact that it includes fermented ingredients since I tend to do well with those.
I don't know if I would react to that or not. But I think that my plan at this time is to focus on the sunscreens that i believe to be all-mineral to see if I can find any that work well for me, since I feel more comfortable with those in general and think they have less of a chance of being irritating.
Thanks for asking about it! ❤
