They were brave: leaping out in that Superman pose, dangling from parachutes with zero control and having to fetch their main weapons from separately dropped canisters! Surprised they were as effective as they were.
just bold as shit. nobody was expecting when they launched that force early in war. made lots of mistakes that we and UK benefitted from. they must have had a LOT of esprit de corps because they were tougher than bark the rest of the war - on the ground - in Italy, Belgium, Russia and France.

This looks mostly real footage as you don't see the enemy. Kind of surreal, a heroic depiction of very frightening situation s in warfare.
The Fallschirmjäger had without doubt the best-looking uniform of the war.

Few scenes are from "Sprung in den Feind". I watched it. Really good footage. I liked most the part when they start singing in hangar song "Rot scheint die Sonne" and then they start coming to the planes.

What a Bunch of Daredevils really Had to chuckle in film clip from Arnhem where the German Soldier goes to clear a building and a British Soldier hurls a great Rock at the German who promptly scarpers one way whilst the British the other!!
According to the narrator of the clip, this footage is from the german invasion of the Netherlands (1940), not the allied invasion of the Netherlands (1944). This makes sense, as the movie was published on dec. 31st of 1943 according to the video description.
As there were no british troops present during the german invasion of the Netherlands, I assume the other guy must be a dutch soldier.
That must have been awesome to been part of that team!
Listen to any paratroopers from either side, with bullets flying around you while you are in the air, they don't call it awesome.

I wonder what the German public thought of this film. Here we are in 1943 and watching victories of as early as 1940. We see scenes in Afrika yet that continent fell to thje Allies in May of that year!
They didn't think anything in particular about it because they had no idea they were losing until the German heartland had allied tanks rolling in.

It was real. The cameramen were soldiers that put their life on the line to capture combat for the newsreel.

German troops even more so because they didn't use steerable chutes like the Allies. Theirs only had one strap on the back
Again, I cannot stress this enough, the German troops were all on METH.
They are just dangling from their chutes. They have no control over their drop at all. Must have had a lot of sprains and breaks landing without any method of guiding their decent.
