I must say, this is a pretty tragic episode with its ending. Dr. Spectra's daughter was so naive yet so innocent. All she wanted was to live a normal life. And her death was very heartbreaking. But this show has balls. It does NOT shy away from death.
Dr. Spectra is a fool who is blinded by hatred and jealousy! He contributed to the death of his own daughter in this episode, and his brother in another episode! Anyone close to him dies due to his hatred of 8TH Man. It's sad that he will never learn - hatred is a greedy tyrant that demands the ultimate price: Life itself. Spectra is a good teacher.. of who not to become .. and what not to be.
The original story for 8th Man was based on an story written by Japanese science fiction writer ”Kazumasa Hirai”. Kazumasa Hirai was the author of the original manga that was published in a magazine for boys, and the cartoonist was Jiro Kuwata, who drew the manga, which was then adapted into this animated TV version. The original manga was serialized in a children's manga magazine for children in the 1960s in Japan, and the animation was created for children. But the author was a popular science fiction writer, and the original story was based on a hard science fiction content without cutting any corners, which was suitable for adults and could be appreciated by them. Never saw this episode of 8th Man, and I’ve been watching since I was 6 years old…..
I’m 62 and I never saw this episode. Like all of 8th Man stories it was good….
