- Was it worth the wait? We placed an order for the Fender Eric Johnson Virginia Stratocaster in the spring of 2021. It finally arrived nearly two years later after we had written off ever laying hands on it. But not that it's here was this unique guitar from one of our favorite artists worth the wait?

I honestly love the unique 4th position tone.
Great tones! It really is a unique voice. BTW, the guy Chris mentioned is Jim Lil. Has a series on youtube about where tone comes from.

That was a fantastic review of this guitar! From what I've heard (and your video proves this), this may be the best Strat ever that isn't Custom Shop made. There are rumors, that some of these were started or built in Fender's Custom Shop and transferred over to their other shop. Thanks for maybe the best review of this amazing Strat!
I managed to get one of these last year. Absolutely wonderful. Great feel and sound. I also own the EJ thinline and I wouldn't part with either
You Should have No Problem selling it !!.. I got watch EJ play his Virginia up close (Stage Side) with his Marshall and Fender Amps Twice Back in the day ("90 -"91)
I think these are quite good value for what you're getting.

How have the am pro ii held up these past two years. As we've had the avii and ultra luxes enter the market since too. Is it seen as a big improvement over the professional (1's) ?
Cool and unique sounding Strat, but I come here mostly to hear Cooper throw down :)
I ordered my Virginia Strat this month and it is due in 5 months, August. I can’t wait!! But I know it will be well worth it.

I've owned this guitar for about a year and a half. Very broad tone spectrum. I love the Sassafras body. Sort of in between ash and alder. Lots of spank and clarity..
do you ever compare to the previous EJ strat?
@johansetiawan1277 yes. Both very nice. I gave my 2007 Eric Johnson signature guitar to a friend that tours the world.
I like the sassafras body better. I record with it. It really stands out on any track. Very crisp and articulate.
@@garythomas4431 i mean how they actually differ from each other?
@johansetiawan1277 The 07 neck was much deeper and a small amount wider. The 54 Virginia strat has a medium D neck, norrower fret board, which is easier to move around on. Both have a 10" radius.
The Alder body on the 07 is not as "articulate " as the sassafras body on the Virginia. The Virginia also has a Dimarzio stack pickup in the bridge ( only one section is wired so it is a single coil). The 4th pickup position is wired reverse phase on the Virginia and the Virginia is a little heavier ( 8.3 lbs).
I think the Virginia has a more level tone across the strings. When you play arpeggios, you have a very defined note separation.
Still, both are nice guitars.

Fender Strats are simply the best electric guitars ever! IMO

Of course it looks like a strat; what else do you expect it to look like? In terms of how it plays, a 12" radius is a substantial difference from a normal strat and nitro finish is another major divergence from the vast majority of non-CS guitars.

Nice playing and clean so we hear what it is really like. A Strat! Yeah. I have the EJ Strat and it’s great. Hard to see what this offers over it. Original EJ is One of the best they ever made. This is no improvement.
Did Alamo get the new martins in yet?

I have an EJ from 06. I am surprised to see your back plate. My understanding was no EJ models ever had those mine doesn’t.

Nah, they don’t all sound the same, most are similar, but an HSS strat sounds great, and as far as signature strats go, the Dave Murray strat does classic rock and metal, as does the YJM strat, there’s a few more out there too, I have a 2013 American standard, bone stock, that sounds great to my ears, that’s all that matters really, find one you like, keep her for life!
