This was during Covid and it’s done so well. Lee sounds great for 75! He wrote this back in the 80’s. Love it! HF and the choir sound great. Happy 4th!
Such a great collab with Lee Greenwood and the Air Force Singing Sergeants! #HomeFree never disappoints and they have a number of patriotic songs, that I really appreciate (even as a Canadian)! Suggest: Land of the Free; Only in America; My Country 'Tis of Thee; Undivided; Travellin' Soldier and more.
So during covid - this was recorded in Nashville, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and DC in order to include the Singing Sargents. All the introduction images are the array of studio facilities. Remarkable tech from these guys with what we went through during that time.
After the release Lee said that he loved singing with the guys because it gave him so much freedom to do adlibs and small changes when he first arrived at the studio he asked how are we doing this and they told him -- it´s your song sing it like you want to and we´ll be right there with you
You don't have to be American (I'm Canadian) to appreciate the patriotism & sentiment of the song. Lee Greenwood still sounds terrific and the U.S. Air Force band are wonderful! Home Free are the perfect collaborators - always having the guest artist(s) shine and providing perfect harmonies & beatboxing. They also have collaborations with Kenny Rogers, The Oak Ridge Boys , Alabama & Don McLean. BTW, Tim, Austin & friends do fund raising for at-risk veterans.
A fun thing about this performance is the way they matched singers to the lines in the second verse. Rob, a Minnesotan, sings 'From the lakes of Minnesota.' I am pretty sure the duet on 'from the hills of Tennessee' are from Tennessee. Texan Tim sings 'across the plains of Texas'. Chance, who grew up first on the Gulf Coast and then in LA, sings 'from sea to shining sea.' I am less certain of the singers for the next two lines, but I would be surprised if they did not have ties to the places they mention.
Happy 4th! I gotta say that I've loved the passion in all your reactions so far, even the one where some thought you sang along too much. That singing just told me how deeply you enjoyed what they were doing.
@@according_to_Gerg thank you so much for the kind words ❤️ and you’re right I really am a huge music person and so I know good music when I hear it… AND THIS IS IT !!!
I just Love how the music just grabs hold of you and I don't care if you sing and dance because that is how it does to me sometimes. I always react to "How Great Thou Art" Raise my hands and belt out the song too. That is until they come to Adam singing his short solo where you hear his Honey sweet tenor voice. Keep up the good work. I'm one of the Home Fries and a new subscriber.
It’s amazing that this was done during quarantine and they were scattered across the country and it’s absolutely perfect You need to check out their cover of Listen to the Music. Adams’s vocal percussion is insanely incredible
I remember singing ths song in chorus in Middle School and the day it came on the radio the day after the 9/11 attack when I was driving home from work and it brought me to tears Great reaction Toci Happy 4th
Toci - I've seen responsive...and RESPONSIVE...but I posted this recommendation yesterday evening AND HERE'S YOUR REACTION the next morning!!! Wow! You're right that today is the perfect day to experience this amazing performance. What you might not have noticed is that this video was created during June 2020--the peak of COVID. The singers recorded their parts separately, or in limited groups close to home. There's a lovely "how we did it" video here: th-cam.com/video/AVV2fToClsM/w-d-xo.html You won't want to record a reaction to it, but will enjoy studio footage, discussions of the song's history and HF's regular use if it in live concerts, and introductions of the "Singing Sergeants." @@lisawall3386 oh my goodness you’re gonna make me emotional ! Haha you’re the first person to comment on my music ! (Which is understandable because home free is light years ahead of me talent wise) haha but thank you so much!!! ALSO We are going live TONIGHT 10:30 pm EST and we would love for everyone to stop by and drop some requests !! HAPPY FOURTH!!! 🇺🇸
This version is the best one that I have heard. I seen Lee stated he had the most freedom in rearrangement of the song. Lee really shine with his standing vocals.

Home Free does an original written by Tim called Land Of The Free and it’s awesome!
The flyover sound at the end was such an awesome touch! ❤
@@atowngirlNot sure if you know it but the flyover at end was done by Adam Rupp the Beatboxer

It was released during the Pandemic. Home Free released a new song every two weeks to keep their fans entertained.
Another great 4th of July song is the Home Free original, "Land of the Free". Check that one out as well.
