I still can't get over what a sleepy sweet face Mamma Bear has.I hope she and her wee ones will get to live out their lives unharmed and in full. Thank You for all the good that you do Rick Mercer. You Truly DO make our world a better place:)
This video makes me smile big time every time I watch it. Did you folks notice that squealy bear shut up as soon as Rick placed him inside his warm jacket? He was cooold for a few seconds.
Rick Mercer is one of the best comedians and he can have fun or make any situation funny. The one with the bears is great and be sure to watch the one with The Royal Canadian Mounted Police. They are all great
Momma Bear and her three very young cubs in the wild of northern Ontario , Canada . Humane wildlife experts taking a winter bear census right in the hibernation dens. Besides the cute 6 week old baby bears (eyes still closed). The guy (Rick Mercer) delivers some funny lines.
this video is adorable. i can't believe the baby bears are so little. i just came back from the state of Virginia and i was hoping to see a black bear but unfortunetly we didn't but it is ironic that i just happen to have this video in my email box. so glad they sent it to me.
Agree. That's why I took photos and videos for animals who live in the wild (deer, chicken, turkey ...) and put them in my children's book to show them what are "real" nature creature. They talk to me too: voice of goats.
@CampCook12345 This is one of my youtube favorites. Every few months I come back to it. Rick is very clever, and it is also obvious that he loves the little bears. I love just about all furry mammals ..... but I also have nothing against hunters. We have an enormous overpopulation of deer in the eastern USA, for example.
Thumbs up number 41, Yoko. Rick was very clever, talking/joking about the shovel, the jab stick, a "double dose," and hitting the ranger over the head and running if the mother bear did try to come out and attack. But I bet she was pretty groggy (though clearly awake), even before the jab stick pinched her. I have heard that their metabolism slows WAY down while they are hibernating. Besides, she was vastly outnumbered, too.
@YokoPolaris Thank you for that. Such a nice counterpoint to those here who assume that trained scientists and specialists in bear behavior know less than they do. It's particularly amusing when a gun-toter insists he never sets food in the woods without a firearm capable of killing a bear. That's someone who either doesn't spend much time in the woods or doesn't spend time there except to kill the wildlife. Go science!
@dreddekopp because its one of the most amazing places to live and the only ones that top it (in north america) are in the Rockys or in the Maritimes of Canada
Wait until they are about two or three months old; I've worked a bit with orphaned bear cubs and they are mischievous as hell, LOL. They also smell bad.
@Yakaduce BTW, we do this same thing - it's called inoculation shots. The human cubs get shots and medical records. No body whines about that ... not even the bears
We have cell phones in a watch so you'd think so. But if it's anything like the forestry service (or the post office) in the US, then they are operating on 20 year old technology.
I miss seeing these on TV. Rick Mercer was and still is a great Canadian.

"Are Canadian bears the only ones with universal healthcare?"
LOL
I've watched this at least seven times by now, and I am entertained and awed each time. This guy's got a great style.
They are adorable!
"Can I name them?"
"Do I have to put all three back? Can I keep one?"
Too funny!
This guy is so much fun to listen to.
I swear, the things rick has done in his career. Ranging from tagging black bear babies to flying in fighter jets!
I couldn't stop grinning. Wonderful story.
I'm surprised at how big the collar was, you would think in todays technology that they could make it smaller.
I wish he was still on. He's spontaneously funny
THIS IS BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST /FUNNIEST YOU TUBES I HAVE EVER ENJOYED.

What an incredible experience that must have been.
This is one of my favorite videos of all time!
Remember Rick, you don't need to outrun the bear, just the scientist.
LOL!! Funny!!! XD
🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely love this. Rick is a great "host', super sense of humor.

Rick Mercer is a national treasure.
One of my fav videos! Rick, you are amazing!
What a great educational video
This was a great video! Very educational but delightfully funny!! Loved it and will watch again!
OMG....The baby bears are amazing....so beautiful to see Momma & Babies in their home....ahhhhhhh.
Americans must be apoplectic when they hear “we don’t carry fire arms, we have a shovel”
apoplectic is a hell of a word, gonna pocket that one for later.
I miss this show.
Coolest animal video I've watched in a while.
Awesome and he was hilarious
05:39 looks like they used a vice to crush the baby bears head :(
"we came we saw we protected a speces", well at least untill the Queens guards get them for hats!
I'm glad I was informed of the huge amount of vicious animals AFTER I went for a dogsledding expedition and slept in that park for days.
Can you imagine Rick Mercer as a kid?? Must have been an amusing handful !!!
The cubs are so cute.
Thank you for the education. Glad to see a positive outcome for the bears and cubs instead reading they are being killed in their dens.
♡♡♡♡
The little bear cubs are very cute!
You always make me laugh Rick❤️
How wonderful ! Thank you!
How sweet are the little cubs. I'm a teddy bear lover.
Animal form of alien abduction.
Rick, is fantastic! I really enjoyed his commentary. Thanks, for posting this.
“Pull on its ear” Is that like “Don’t poke the bear”. What wonderful work!
Very technical experience, you have the jab stick and I have the shovel.
Love it!
Loved this episode!
+Terri Rankin Me too Terri :) Rick restores my Hope for the rest of our species.
This is great.
I give it 10 thumbs up.
This video is much more popular than the Cockroach Tagging one.

Not only funny as heck but really quite interesting.

this MIGHT be the cutest thing I've ever seen!!!! :)
Nature is wonderful!

That’s beautiful! Amazing life experience. 😊
On RMR the vids are broadcast in a studio...in front of an audience..hence the laughter
Great stuff! Rick mercer for PM!
Cute. Cute❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Adorable cubs!
omg those sweet babies! precious!
this is hysterical and wonderful and funnier than all get out.....
Wow those cubs are so cute!
My friend Roxanne shared this video with me! It is cute...Canada's finest!
He is Hilarious !! Great video TY
Really enjoyed seeing the hibernating bears!
Interesting and fun video, the cubs are so cute.
it is truly amazing what becomes available to the world to view. Thanks
baby bears are sooooo adorable
I could watch this video 24/7 !!!!
So cute and a bit funny!
There was recently a tv show on BBC about bears with a similar perspective, The bear family and me.
I still can’t believe they canceled this
It wasn't canceled, he retired.
*GOOD ONE. Awesomness level 100 reached.*
most amazing clip
Rick Mercer is very funny but an amazing video of how they tag bears & their cubs.
HAHAHAHA "The creaming one is Danny Williams." brilliant
I like the way Dr Rogers collars the bears better, with trust and food rewards.
Great video.
Yeah, I'm a little late, but such an awesome video, love this guy!
Nice story. Good one!
Well Rick that is the best report I have ever seen you do...
Well done...
:)
VERY cool! I wonder about the human scent that might be left behind, how did the deal with that?
Thumbs up number 41, Yoko. Give them spaces and leave them alone! We try 🤔
Guess this is what they mean by "Shovel ready" projects. Rick finally found one!
Canada and its inhabitants are earthly treasures! Truly North America's finest.
@YokoPolaris

Aww so adorable!
Funny guy gets & puts baby bears.... nice.
My best friend used to live in Algonquin IL. 40 yrs ago. We went snow mobiling, it tipped over on me, I was pinned underneath
Ever so cute bears. Very funny man that.
@dreddekopp because its one of the most amazing places to live and the only ones that top it (in north america) are in the Rockys or in the Maritimes of Canada
I love Rick Mercer - from Halifax, NS
I met that guy on a fishing trip to the Park.
They poked the Bear to many times. Awake. 🐻. Yes.
Wait until they are about two or three months old; I've worked a bit with orphaned bear cubs and they are mischievous as hell, LOL.
They also smell bad.
You are a national treasure.
Haha, that was one of his best! very good.

Remember, I don't need to outrun the bear. I only need to outrun you.
I am ridiculously jealous of Rick right now. Most biologists would kill for this opportunity!
Cool job!!
Adorable!
Oh Wow!!!
What an amazing experience that would be!!
