Have they ever heard of a setup! Fret rattle is not a good tone. In a mix it may sound better but soloed it sounds like a bad instrument. Love the basses but not a fan of this video.
Thanks! I try to play in a simple way that showcases how good these basses sound in a real-world context. I prefer a little “clank” in my tone because it helps cut through the mix but if that’s not your thing you can roll off the tone knob…
never thought an affinity series bass of ANY kind would be better than any standard Fender i've owned or borrowed. I love my affinity jazz bass. ready to get the affinity pj bass honestly.
Let’s make our peace with the fact that the affinity jag bass is about as close as we are ever gonna get to a Mike Kerr Jaguar Bass. Royal Blood forever.
I’ve only tried the Affinity Jaguar H in-store and I gotta say…wow! If all the others in the line feel and play like that, count me in! Though I suppose you could’ve stayed away from the “Affinity” name because a lot of people (snobs or not) may automatically discount it based on that name alone.
I would say production overseas has reach a new standard (peak?), so most instruments made over there are actually good enough. I'm a firm believer that tone is mostly in the hands anyway and if he can make all of them sound great, you should too :D
Love the affinity bass’s especially the PJ! For years I’ve been surprised by the attention to details, even compared with the Fenders. Things like tight neck pockets and lower fret string centering. Things that are not an easy to fix, if done correctly! I’ve handled dozens of both and the higher percentage goes to the Squier Affinity. Also, maybe it’s the weight or the carve but they’re more comfortable to me. And for all the whining I’ve heard about the cheap hardware it work a just fine. Granted the tuners aren’t the smoothest but they hold tune so who cares! Lastly and even more important the necks hold there shape as good as any. Of the Squiers I’ve owned and the ones that I’ve played in music stores that I frequent, units that hang there for months and evens years they rarely move or distort. As a matter of experience I can’t ever remember one that ever did! I don’t know what the manufacturer is doing but it’s working! Also love that Salmon/pink color! If I were Squier I widen the color options a bit to draw more attention to the aforementioned. I’d wager a good number of potential buyers see the price and or Affinity on the head stock and pass them by.
I've got the pj squier in a sun burst colour 👍 I'm loving it so far, but haven't got much to compare it with either. I will play it a couple of years and then consider if I need a different one,- But it's definetely a great bass for beginners and very affordable! 👌😊
Liking the looks of that new Jazz Bass V (also worth noting is that instead of just saying "J-Bass" on the headstock, the actual spelled out the word "Jazz"). Hopefully, it's as good as it looks.
Just by the way he plays each and every one of them, he clearly likes the 4-string Jazz. It's my fave from this lineup. I'm a sucker for Burgundy Mist. If this was available left handed with a tort guard, I'd jump on it so hard, my heels would crack...
Quality of entry level basses has really shot up. I remember my crappy early 80s rickenbacker copy which gave me the thickest calluses and would occasional give me an electric shock to wake me up.
this is why i don't like to call these basses beginner basses anymore, a beginner bass is smth youd get second hand nowadays, these are affordable gig basses to me now.
Pete griffin? Cool! Very close to peter griffin! 😅😆👌🏻 brilliant stuff! I'm new to bass and the bass my is letting me use is a red affinity jazz bass! 😎👍🏻
This series is amazing, i'm playing guitar but i must buy one of those bass ! ofcourse it will be Precision, but You can make more colours than only 4 :)
I love Fender...they never fail to make great gear. Even if it's a lower end model. You can always upgrade the hardware as you see fit and come out with a killer instrument.
The Jazz Bass V appears (and sounds like) it has 70s bridge pickup spacing. Which is great because that's my favorite setup on a jazz. I've been looking for a cheap 5-string jazz bass and I may have just found it. Just needs a black 3-ply pickguard and possibly an Audere pre-amp. 😎👍🎸🎶
I really wanna get one and get a John East J Retro preamp for it. That 70s pickup spacing is such an amazing feature. The John East has a switch which disables the blend knob, which I as a guitar player find it a lifesaver
I have the Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass PJ in Lake Placid Blue, it looks identical to this new affinity P bass. Only difference is the VM has a gloss finish on the back of the neck and it as a high mass bridge.
Dig that 1st Jaguar he played, but cannot locate it on the website ? Only 32" Jaguar has that pasty maple neck. Wonder if Fender discontinued the rosewood neck version in 32" scale ? Would love a P-Bass with a Rosewood neck in the 32" scale, Fender hope you are listening 👍
Problem is something tells me that most e-tailers/shops here in Malaysia aren't in a real hurry to clear out the older Affinity J-bass V (straight 5 headstock) so I doubt that I'll be seeing any until at least a couple months more if lucky. Also wtf Fender why didn't y'all bring back the Precision Bass V either VM or Affinity??? That last Vintage Modified one which got "ninja'ed" production stop actually took a lot of would be buyers (like me) by huge surprise when all of a sudden I can't find it anywhere and sellers just quickly de-listed it?
Im not suprised at all at how great they sound, their a Fender. But the thing that kills me is that Jazz one sounds as good as my 74 Fender Jazz Bass. Im grabbing one of these and putting Ol' Betsy up for retirement. 😂
Now all cheap brands are going to tremble. There is not best way to start playing Bass guitar than the Original Fender-Squier Affinity Jazz and Precision Basses.
I have never heard basses set up so badly in a video EVER! The fret buzz especially on the PJ was horrible and would put me off buying or recommending these at all.
This guy can play. He made every bass sound amazing.
He is an instructor in the Fender play app
Have they ever heard of a setup! Fret rattle is not a good tone. In a mix it may sound better but soloed it sounds like a bad instrument. Love the basses but not a fan of this video.
I don't think he's great
Thanks! I try to play in a simple way that showcases how good these basses sound in a real-world context. I prefer a little “clank” in my tone because it helps cut through the mix but if that’s not your thing you can roll off the tone knob…
I said the same thing!
never thought an affinity series bass of ANY kind would be better than any standard Fender i've owned or borrowed. I love my affinity jazz bass. ready to get the affinity pj bass honestly.
The PJ with both pickups sounds very, very sweet.
Let’s make our peace with the fact that the affinity jag bass is about as close as we are ever gonna get to a Mike Kerr Jaguar Bass. Royal Blood forever.
I love how the Jazz Bass 5 string has a 70s pickup spacing!
I definitely wanna get one
I’ve only tried the Affinity Jaguar H in-store and I gotta say…wow! If all the others in the line feel and play like that, count me in!

Damn Rick Grimes killing it.
Nooo Coooorllll
No! You missed a perfect opportunity! Pete(r) Griffin
the PJ is a bang for the buck. I've had many high standard basses and these are really really good.
totally! i have 5 different basses that range from $1000 to $4000 and I play my PJ all the time! Just ordered a jazz!
That Jazz bass sounds amazing. Wow
Peter plays as well as these basses looks👍👍
I just bought the Jaguar H bass.Very cool, the sound is different than the traditional P or J basses
Sheesh I need to get one of those Jaguar basses. It’d go good with my Fender Mustang Bass.
Squire's quality seems to be killer. All sound awesome! 👍
I'm in love with the five strings one.
Love the affinity bass’s especially the PJ! For years I’ve been surprised by the attention to details, even compared with the Fenders.

I just installed Fender gen4 noiseless jazz pickups

I will play it a couple of years and then consider if I need a different one,- But it's definetely a great bass for beginners and very affordable! 👌😊
Agreed! I got the same PJ model too, except I got the Black one. 😀
Liking the looks of that new Jazz Bass V (also worth noting is that instead of just saying "J-Bass" on the headstock, the actual spelled out the word "Jazz"). Hopefully, it's as good as it looks.
Burgundy mist, excellent throwback color choice!
Just by the way he plays each and every one of them, he clearly likes the 4-string Jazz. It's my fave from this lineup. I'm a sucker for Burgundy Mist. If this was available left handed with a tort guard, I'd jump on it so hard, my heels would crack...

Blue blue.. want the blue one..and it sounds cool..!
That pink one is beautiful
I love Fender...they never fail to make great gear. Even if it's a lower end model.
You can always upgrade the hardware as you see fit and come out with a killer instrument.
Love my VM Jaguar. I just ordered the V in Olympic white.
I’m mainly a Pbass guy but those jazz ones are sounding great. Might need the best of both worlds 🤔
I just got the white 1 , love it , Next High mass bridge , And Duncan quarter pounders and strings .
I'm going to get an audere for mine
I really wanna get one and get a John East J Retro preamp for it. That 70s pickup spacing is such an amazing feature.
The John East has a switch which disables the blend knob, which I as a guitar player find it a lifesaver
I just wish they made more colors like this for the fender models
I would have to agree
Im going to have that blue P bass in my music room soon.
70’s pickup spacing on that white Squier 5 string? Wow for the price that’s cool!
I’m going to buy that jag bass for a mark hoppus mod
I bought 40th Anniversary P bass. Blue. It's really awesome. I love Him. And my band loves Him❤
Great stuf. Thanks for the video. Love Mads - Bass - Listen to mine..
I have a 2004 Squire Standard P bass Black and Chrome (special ) ,with added Jazz pickup and Jazz neck. Made in Indonesia
Wish I could play as half as good as you, Pete. Very advanced skills meet great sound. 🤘
The Jaguar one for lefthanders? please? :D
Love it! I Can't wait to play one of this
And one important things, You should make Fender Player Series with Indian Laurel fretboard - it's way better than Pau Ferro !
Those Indian laurel fretboard look dark/brown rosewood like rather than dull/dry/grey Indian laurel board on Classic Vibe bass.
Dang great video!
Im leaning towards the Jag😍
I have the Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass PJ in Lake Placid Blue, it looks identical to this new affinity P bass. Only difference is the VM has a gloss finish on the back of the neck and it as a high mass bridge.
yeah they have different woods and pickup wiring, along with vintage details in the design to make the differences in sound and looks.
Make a left handed 70s reissue!!
mans name is literally peter griffin 0:19
Dig that 1st Jaguar he played, but cannot locate it on the website ? Only 32" Jaguar has that pasty maple neck. Wonder if Fender discontinued the rosewood neck version in 32" scale ? Would love a P-Bass with a Rosewood neck in the 32" scale, Fender hope you are listening 👍

I have i my list Precision Black and the White, and the Jazz Bass Balack-Maple and Burgundy Mist one
from what I can tell he likes playing the PJ the most, but only by a little
Hey hey, does the Jaguar come in burgundy mist?
Why 4+1 tuners on 5 string? What was wrong with 5 in line on old affinity? Looks cleaner and better.
You know what really grinds my gears!? Not having a 5 string option.
which model is good?
Jazz bass of course. Honestly you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Im not suprised at all at how great they sound, their a Fender. But the thing that kills me is that Jazz one sounds as good as my 74 Fender Jazz Bass. Im grabbing one of these and putting Ol' Betsy up for retirement. 😂
Sold.
belle gamme 😎
Amazing
Alguien en español que me de su opinión de este bajo si lo tiene porfa? Gracias!
Me hice del PJ.

(upbeat bass music)
i wish these models came in a more muted blue 😭
anyone else feel like jbass actually sounds deeper than pj?
Didn't know that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) played bass that good!
Left handed?
I wish I could have the tab or tutorial for the PJ, sounds nice to jam for a while :D
Nice tune!
use speed control and slow it down....
@@grantkoeller8911 Yeah! I actually got some of it by doing that :D
PETER GRIFFIN? AU?
Pete Griffin? ehehehehehehehheheheheheheheheeeeeee
Lol 😂 I scoured the comments to see if anyone else noticed
Now all cheap brands are going to tremble. There is not best way to start playing Bass guitar than the Original Fender-Squier Affinity Jazz and Precision Basses.
Pete Griffin💀💀
PETER GRIFFIN???
I coomed
me!
All I hear is fret buzz.......
Ya way to much
Damn. I didn’t know that Andrew Lincoln played the bass that great.
🎸🎤🎹🪕⚰️
Gone are the days of a regular p-bass, same with fender “high end” Mexican made models and American performers, not everyone wants a PJ
0:18 This guy is literally called Peter Griffin and I'm yet to see any Family Guy reference in the comments. Really, guys?
Affinity nao gosto
I didn’t even know Rick grimes played bass
Your name is Peter Griffin
Everyone reading this comment. I need one of these. Buy one for me
Your name is Peter Griffin girlfriend
I have never heard basses set up so badly in a video EVER! The fret buzz especially on the PJ was horrible and would put me off buying or recommending these at all.
Hey some of us love some gritty fret buzz! For me it adds a nice character to the sound. But I get that's not for everyone.
daddy? sorry, daddy??????
Hello? FBI open up
Omg its peter griffin from fortnite 😱😱😱
Too much playing, not enough time explaining features.
