the disneyland version of the ride fixes the empty space issue...well mostly. if you look to the right in the scene with the fireflies just before the big lift hill, you see a dark wall
Yeah the hate for this ride was so insane. There was even a petition to fire the lead imagineer for this project for some reason. I might make a video in the future about the insane side of the Disney Parks fandom in the future because I have some stuff to say.
It's not a total lost cause of a ride, but the storyline and tone they came up with _really_ doesn't match the more thrilling ride system being used. The changes discussed here would do a much better job of giving the story some much needed thrill, and make the buildup and payoff for the final drop much more effective...and I'd honestly have very few complaints otherwise. However, I do think the current version being so riddled with bad story decisions is indicative of a more troubling trend with Disney that shows they're far more reliant on shallow character branding at the expense of attention to fine detail and thematic integrity. This version feels too reliant on "Look, it's Tiana and Louis!" rather than actually having them do anything interesting enough to warrant a thrill ride.
Since I heard someone suggest being attacked by predators to have peril like in the movie, I suggest that in the spot that used to have the baby possums and roadrunner, which now just has lights in the trees above you, I would suggest you get attacked by the predators that tried to eat tiana and naveen in the original movie and change tiana and louis' dialogue tobe about trying to hide the guests from them and this is the reason mama odie shrinks you.
i really love your ideas!! I think the suggestions for the music are really spot on and support the timing of the ride scenes. And i absolutely love the tie in you made with Dr Facilier, even though i knew the ride was after the first movie, i really wanted them to find a way to bring him back. I completely feel that the voodoo scene you made makes a huge buildup that really supports such a big drop. It incites the adrenaline and fear which would mirror that feeling of climbing the mountain. And the ending would honestly make my heart so warm, seeing that in person. This is a better story concept for Tiana's Scary Bayou Adventure To Ryan, I do like your story concept of Tiana's Scary Bayou Adventure, but some of the things I want to point out you didn't mention is, give Louis a Trumpet since he's a trumpet player, also add in other missing critters like 3 Possums, Deer, Birds, more crocodiles featured from The Princess and the Frog and especially have the Spoonbill birds dancing around Mama Odie and show the dancing lady butterflies, I would also like to see Buta the Dog and Marcel the older white cat make a cameo at the party and show Naveen more or maybe Lawrence at the party out of prison. I do like the conflict plot of the 3 frog hunters Reggie, Darnell, Two Fingers sneaking around and bringing Dr. Faciliers spirit back with the scary dolls and mask which I would enjoy especially at the drop off, I like your idea of changing some songs around especially playing songs like "When We're Human", "Friends on the Other Side" and the "Ma belle evangeline", and fixing the "Down in the Bayou" and "Dig a Little Deeper" in other areas also play the song "Never Knew I needed" by Ne-Yo at the very end of the ride or in the ride queue. This would be the real Tiana's Bayou Adventure I would be excited for. Sadly I don't think the Disney World and Disneyland Imagineers are going to do it but I would be happy if they redid Tiana's Bayou Adventure to be more exciting. And if anything in the future if the Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride doesn't work out or Disney Imagineers won't improve it, I think they could move Tiana's Bayou Adventure to Mr. Toads Wild Ride and replace it with Tiana's Madi Gras Parade which I would enjoy for what it is since it would be short dark ride. Yes I know some people would miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride but the problem is the ride is very dated and most people don't know about Wind in the Willows book. And in Tiana's Madi Gras Parade dark ride I want to see the Madi Gras parade scenes on the backdrop with people in costumes and parade floats while driving in a 1920s car that I've seen in Princess and the Frog film which I would enjoy even more. And maybe in the second retheme they could replace it with "Pocahontas Around the Riverbend", "Moana's Shiny Island", or The Emperor's New Splash Mountain", or "Lion King Pride Rock" are some ideas I have for Disney Imagineers if Tiana's Bayou Adventure doesn't work out.
You're so right about the characters I totally forgot about some of them. I'm still surprised they didn't even try to repurpose some of the bird figures as flamingos especially when they looked so similar!
Or at least change the ride to have old style animatronics instead because electric animatronics are not a good thing when you have water and steam and everything that of water ride has inside its housing
I do wonder if there's a percentage of people who go to Disneyland that aren't allergic to splash mountain just because it's got so much water inside that building that there's probably a great percentage of just mold on every surface
