@Terri. I just bought these zlx15p one week ago. They are nice, but I think at best ,these can handle up to about 150 people max. They are great choice for small and medium size rooms. 200+ people crowd noise will drown these.
I just purchased 2 Ev Zlx 15" powered speakers and i absolutely love them. i will only buy ev speakers from here on out. i was already working with 2 Ev Zlx 12" along with 2 18" Peavy Subs that also sound great but my next subs will be Ev as well. they are just great speakers with awesome technology and portability.
I'm looking for a PA system for small venues for an 8 piece band. These speakers in 12" were recommended to me along with a Pevey sound board. We can only spend money once - so we have to be careful. Goo buy pr should I keep looking?
Virgil - good to hear from you! The sound quality is excellent. The LiveX appear to have more power available (before the amp limits) and have a more true sound - the wood cabinet, the true voicing with a more pronounced midrange, etc. The ZLX box is lightweight & very compact.. The Injection molded cabinet and strong steel grille protect your investment and of course there are padded covers available which is almost a must to keep your investment looking presentable.
For now I'm using a pair of ZLX 12" tops and a single ZXA1 Sub. My question is actually about the sub. I usually run the ZLX 12" tops below where I see them limit at all. With the sub, I'm wondering if the goal is to keep the limit light off completely, or if it should blink with the harder bass hits. Thanks again for the great setup guys, I'll be in touch when I'm ready to make my next order! Any input is most welcomed.....
I am looking to replace my Passive JBL JRX 115 and a QSC GX5 due to weight and portability. I am looking at the Alto TS 112 & TS 115. I will be selling the current system for $650.00 What would I be able to go into to handle my band. I typically lightly mix in guitars and vocals. I have 2 15" subs for the kick drum and bass. Looking for suggestions and not to spend a whole bunch more. Thank you for your help.
Thinking of going with these as a smaller secondary DJ rig for small shows, add a ZXA1 sub and ill cut my load in / set up / tear down / load out time to under an hour. Time is money, my large rig is a six speaker monster with rack PA system....Add a laptop / controller and a single pole light bar and you're done......load it all in the back of the SUV versus hauling the trailer. :)
Hello TY? How are you? I am thinking about buying an EV tops. I can't make my mind up between elx112p or zlx15p. I'm looking for headroom and sound quality. Which do you feel is the biggest bang for my bucks between these two models? Are the new model zlx15p bi-amped? Or is it just a single amp that powers both woofer and tweeter? Please get back to me and thanks for the great video.
yea you can with the powered ones because it's only line signal. If you are using your own power amps then you need to be educated on ohms and running speakers in series. If they are 8 ohms which I think they are then you can link two together off of the same power amp channel with safety. You don't want to drop below 4 ohms. Every speaker you add to a power amp double the out put of the amp and it will over work your amp and eventually cause damage to it. but if you are using the powered series. ZLX - P for powered all you need to do is run your signal / xlr from one speaker to another with as many as you want to. I'm a professional live sound audio engineer and musician. 30 years as an audio tech and mixer.
This is a question for anyone. I'm looking for a speaker (15" & pwrd) that can hold a crowd of 3-500 people for 5 to 6hr. Don't want to spend over $799. I really like these ZLX's.......Help
Hello Keith, thank you for your question and for watching the video. Simple answer is no. While the audio signal will pass "through" to another active/powered speaker. It will not pass power to a non powered or passive speaker.
Hello Hercules - 2 ZLX15P will handle a backyard party for sure. Great little speaker for the money. Give us a call and we'll make you a sweet deal on them!
Need some advice I have two of the ZLX-15P and using a Alto Professional LIVE 802 Mixer. What would be the proper set up to use both these speakers, need the sound to carry for a far distance but I do not want to burn anything up. TIA
1st, make sure speakers are elevated to at least 5-6', (3 Meters). Horn should be above your head. 2nd, XLR cables from your mixer, (3-pin connectors in the rear) to each speaker. 3, Turn the Volume sliders on your mixer AND knobs on the speakers all the way down to -0-. 4, Plug in your Music source into the input channel, (7/8 for Stereo) and play, on Repeat, your most Bass heavy music into mixer. Unmute the channel and slowly raise the "Gain" on the input channel, (7/8) until you see a good "Green" Signal Light on the Channel. You will NOT hear anything yet. 5, Watch for the "Red" Clip Light next to the gain. You do NOT want to have blinking fast or Solid on. Once you have the Red Light just starting to blink, back it off about 1-2 dots. 6, Move the Mixer "Main" Slider to Unity, (-0- or the White Section). 7, Slowly bring up the Channel Slider, (7/8) until you see your Meters, (Green, Yellow, Red) above the Main to a good "Green" level. Only just blinking the "Yellow". YOU SHOULD NOT HEAR ANY SOUND YET. 8, Go to only one of the 15Ps and slowly raise the Input Channel Dial until you see a good Signal Bar. You should NOT exceed -0- or the Strait Up position. Watch the Level Meter on the Speaker LED Panel. Still No Sound Yet . . . be patient. 9, Now, on the speaker, SLOWLY raise the Main Volume Knob. Now you will Now start hearing sound. As you raise it up, it will become VERY Loud, very quickly. Keep raising it until you see the "Clipping" on the LED Panel. Once you start Clipping, back off about 3-5 "Clicks" of the knob. Make the EXACT SAME settings on the other 15P. Caution, it will be VERY LOUD with both speakers on. 10, Your system is now set. You should now ONLY adjust the Volume of the music with the Mixer's Channel Slider, (7/8). Good Luck. . . . Whew!
i have 4 sx100+ and 2 sx300 since 1998. used the sx100+ more for gigs. four sx100+ sound great and good for large gigs. the sx300 are so loud and clean i used them in a hall seat 1200 people and the were awesome sounding. i just used them yesterday at a pavilion and they sound loud and clean as do all ev speakers. i'm just saying these speakers are made to last. mine is almost 20 years old and still pounding. so the quality is exceptional. these powered speakers will sound good too. i think the quality and sound is the same as JBL, QSC, and Turbosound. you can't go wrong with EV
good pm. sir i always wathching how you intrudious the ev .i have a question . why ev. there is no fan cooled. i saw almost all powered speaker.. have. i,m planing to buy now .ev.beacause everybody said is excellent.thank u. sir.
These are NOT Powered. They do not need fans. Not all Pwrd Spkrs have fans. Having a fan doesn't make it better. The amp section, when the speaker is pushed hard long term, will get hot but the DSP has protection circuitry to protect the speaker.
Thanks for watching our video Colby - how about giving us a try. We can beat that price and provide you with great service. We may have the word DJ in our name, but we have sales engineers that are performing musicians and we certainly know about Pro Audio. Thanks!
Just bought a pair of these today and I'm worried about the early limiting ,hell I don't even have them half way up and the limit lights flashing,so my question to u is I'm I doing something wrong or should I be returning these back to guitar center

I want to get these... but I read somewhere that these are DJ speakers.. not for band/singing speakers.. meaning they won't sound as good. Is this true? I can't remember where exactly I read it from.
just crazy about the club setting on these you dont haft to set any bass or mids or treb the best ive ever heard ev hit a home run with these the best bang for my buck i have never heard the qsc k12 all i can say is look out qsc.
yeah i know ev zlx is nothing short of spectacular a road worthy sound system that built to last for years to come i never tried live do you need to set the bass mid and treb. on this live setting and is there any clipping
StarlightProDJ926 Don't expect them to be super loud. They sound quite good and keep theur sound quality up to limit. I think to get the most out of these you need a sub.
i own a pair of zlx15p..i think they are horrible speakers. They climit so easy and i have them paired with qsc 18 powered subs.My events are only 200 mx.Also they overheat alot and smell like burning plastic.
I would not expect a pair of these ( which one most likely buys for convenience ) to cover more than 50 pax ( Comfortably and not JUST BELOW its mechanical limit ). On that note, even 4 pcs of QSC K 12 ( without subs ) are just about enough for 120 pax provided what is being put in is of substantial quality. Dont expect magic out of budgets. My rule of thumb is if aint enough, add another pair and charge accordingly.
David Watson so if you have the speakers hooked into a really good mixing board then you should be able to get your meds that you're looking for. You should basically be able to set the speakers just right at 0 on everything and use your mixing board equalizer to make the proper adjustments to make the sound amazing.. I'm just using a small Mackie mixing board with these speakers and just run the base and treble at zero on the speakers and adjust the EQ on the speaker to music and then make all my adjustments on the mixing board and I think they sound absolutely amazing

Does this speaker come with a left and right if you buy a pair, given that it is not symmetrical in shape and design.

There is a picture of a lock on the screen on the menu. How do I get that off or unlock it?
Yeah!!! I like EV and this line I'm considering as my second unit or backup!!! Thanks for the best information on gear!!!
Can this also connect to a mixing desk
Which speaker has a better performance the Zlx or the Elx I know you can pair them with Elx 118p but can you pair them with a more powerful sub
Hello TY? How are you? I am thinking about buying an EV tops. I can't make my mind up between elx112p or zlx15p. I'm looking for headroom and sound quality. Hi Ty, how do these compare to the Live X series?
just got me a pair awesome choice
What's the main difference between ZLX vs ELX? They're both 1000w..
can i connect both these speakers together?

Yes... The Output XLR can be connected to another ZLX unit and run in parallel
ONLY Pwrd Spkrs. Do not do this with Unpowered Speakers without checking the Amplifiers Specs. You will Blow something.
Need advise pls can ev15 inch powered box play an order non powered 15 inch box.

When Properly set up, these will do the job just fine, but not with heavy R&B/Hip Hop music. You would need to add a Subwoofer for that.
Try the EKX
Can the 15 inch power box. Play the 12 inch non powered box....

Will 2 of these work ok with a live rock band small clubs outside venues and practice paired up like a Peavey 8500 mixer? Thanks

Setup your gain that dont exceeded + dB ......Only 0 or - dB
Set at unity

Yes. Be careful with the Low End, Kick Drum.
@dj gotdowz the zlx have a much better sound more clean and rich if you pair them with elx118p you should
price for electro voice ZLX
hello. I watched a video here where a guy said he was using them with bluetooth from his cell phone. Do these really have Bluetooth?
No. They do NOT have Bluetooth Capability.
Hi, does the zlx produce hiss sound when turned on?
Very, very minor, if you put the master volume to -2 db it eliminates it perfectly
thanks!
When two ZLX G2 speakers are paired in stereo mode, the Mix Out from each speaker reflects the mono sum of that speaker’s specific channel (Left or Right).
Thus, in stereo mode:
The subwoofer will not receive both Left and Right channels if connected to the Mix Out of just one speaker.
How to Ensure the Subwoofer Receives Both Channels?
To ensure the subwoofer gets the full mix of both channels in stereo mode:
Option 1: Use Both Mix Outs and a Summing Box:
Connect the Mix Out from the Left ZLX G2 and the Right ZLX G2 to a summing box or mixer.
The summing box combines the signals into mono, which you then send to the subwoofer.
Option 2: Use an External Bluetooth Receiver:
Use a Bluetooth receiver like the Alto Professional Bluetooth Total 2 to provide a summed mono signal directly to the subwoofer.
Connect the subwoofer’s outputs to the ZLX G2 speakers for proper stereo playb
I want to get these... but I read somewhere that these are DJ speakers.. not for band/singing speakers.. meaning they won't sound as good.
Is this true? I can't remember where exactly I read it from.
If properly set up, they will work for both Live sound and DJ'n.
What is the max db rating on the master volume?
I think it's 127 on the 12 and 137 on the 15
Nvm, the most u could turn it up is 10
NEVER Turn your speakers All The Way Up, Ever. With Proper Gain Structure, you will get good, loud sound out of them.
these speakers work with computer too?
Not a valid question. Need more information. Essentially, all speakers will work with a computer with PROPER connections and Amplification.
what is the price for those speakers
$275 - $400 depending on the Size and Dealer +Shipping.
Can i used it as stage monitoŕ
Yes.
when you say $500,is that the price of a single speaker or for a pair?
Each, but they are on Instant Rebate right now! www.agiprodj.com/electro-voice-ev-zlx-15p-15-2-way-powered-loudspeaker.html

WHAT?!?! . . . . . What? You may not be setting up your speakers properly if you can not provide good sound with only 2 speakers for 200 Ppl.
NEEDS A MID EQ ADJUST. ONLY HAS BASS AND TREBLE. MAGIC IS IN THE MIDS!!!!
David Watson so if you have the speakers hooked into a really good mixing board then you should be able to get your meds that you're looking for.
