    Professionally installed, well done! Another solution is the marine air conditioner ,,webasto,, which uses 12 vlots of electricity and the heat exchanger is water. It is easier to install and more compact. One disadvantage of this solution is that the device is much more expensive. :-)

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree that's why I did not go with a marine are they were close to $2,000 and this was only $350 install with everything👍
      And whenever it breaks I just replace it quick and very expensive

    Excellent job!! Nothing like AC on a hot day or night. It might work a little better if you reverse the exhaust and intake. Hot air rises and could get sucked in.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you Captain and the reason I engineered that way it's because if I put the vent on top in the suction the bottom when it rains water will be sucked in the intake Taurus inside the AC that's why I put it on top and plus when I'm riding the boat and I have the air conditioner on if there's any splash of water and it hits the deck it will be sucked into the air conditioner that's why I put it on top yes I put a lot of thought into every little detail since I am a refrigeration mechanic

    Hey Cap! So, after so many issues with my marine AC system, I'm considering doing something like you did in my cabin. I'm very ignorant on A/C systems, why is it you need a blower fan? Wouldn't the exhaust air just blow out naturally? Or do you add the blower so the hot air doesn't stagnate in the vent and return into the cabin? Also why not have the exhaust go outside of the boat on the side with a marine-grade air vent? Or why not blow the hot air into the bilge?

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you don't add an extra blower the air conditioner shut off from high pressure you need a extra vent lower like this one and throw in the air into the bilch is a bad idea because it's very hot air I hope this helps captain

My ac ran on the genny for over an hour, and the cabin was just as stuffy as when I started. I plugged all the outside holes leading to the outside I could see and find. any ideas? I did plug the areas along where the vents are located on both sides of the boat. sad to say I have the same results, its a little better, but its not as hot and humid as yesterday either. I'm going to go try it after the sun gets a little lower in the sky and behind the shade tree. I'm getting 39-42 degree air out of the unit, I'm thinking the 5K BTU just may not be large enough. still an awesome idea, and I'm determined to get it working properly. how cool does your house get after, say 30 minutes of your AC running? Not that it matters a whole lot but I think u have the intake and exhaust dampers backwards. May have worked a lot better without the booster fan. Nice job either way

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you're going to like the explanation the reason I didn't put the intake on the bottom is because when it rains it will suck rainwater that Splash from the deck of the boat but put it on top just protect it from ocean splash and rain that's why I did it that way it was very well thought engineer😉👍

      @djnemesis82pluss1877 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Out On The Reef I don’t mean the bottom should be on the top and top on bottom. I’m saying the way the damper opens is backwards. The exhaust opens like the intake should and vise versa. You’re going against gravity not with it

      Did you get the 351 CFM blower the 6-inch diameter 1 one thing that I did to improve my ventilation was behind the AC duct I open the hole opening 6in and place a 6 inch hose to exhaust to the fan did you do that? Or do you have the 4-inch

    • @dssranger278
      @dssranger278 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OutOnTheReef only thing 4in is the intake hose and connector to the ac box.everything else is 6in I have a 4in duct fan that I bought 1st then saw your next video that you went to a 6in fan. I may put the 4in fan on the intake side to pull in more cooler outside air.

    • @dssranger278

      I wonder if I go 6in exhaust hose from blower to exterior vent. Right now it is 4 in .I put on the 6 to 4in reducer on the blower like you did.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dssranger278 the hose on the exit of the blower is a 4 inch that is fine but what I did to improve is that I put a 6 inch hose from the beginning of the blower to the back of the AC duct. Improved 25% of the airflow.
      So in easier words you have to make a 6 inch hole on the back in the AC ductwork to be 6 in and run a 6 inch hose to the blower and the esxit of the blower a 4-inch house is just fine

    This was a bad idea right up until the blower motor was delivered then it became feasible. You might want to put a box around that blower so it does not radiate heat into the cabin.

    • @OutOnTheReef
      @OutOnTheReef  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It radiates some heat but you wouldn't want to trap that heat around the blower because the blower needs also to cool down a little bit if you trap the heat in the blower you going to increase the heat in the blower and you may damage the blower that's why I didn't do that so I only get a little bit of heat in the cabin of course I lose a little bit of deficiency but it's a safer way to run your blower it's cooler that way.
      Thanks for your suggestion
