I know he wasn’t an easy horse, you took him from being a scrawny little guy to a fit and muscled willing jumper. You’re a terrific rider. Good for you for sticking it out with him, not just anyone could. You look so good together now. He seems very happy.
That's true! @Shelby Dennis: And the story with Milo gave me courage, because I adopted a dog from a Spanish shelter and he is difficult as well. Reminds me on Milo. But Milo's story gave me hope not to give up on my dog (you can see him in the profile). Thank you so much, Shelby!
Get ready for a gush... I've been following you for just over 6 years. I remember you on Doodle, and I remember the day I first saw Milo on your tumblr. I've been on my own journey to becoming in trainer in all that time, with my own very special horses who are not easy by any means. I know the dedication and the patience and the personal growth you've been through to get Milo to where he is today. Shelby, honestly, I ADORE you guys. Milo is absolutely sublime and you and he together are just magic. Thank you for being you, the industry needs more of it and thank you for everything you've done for Milo, it is an inspiration. For me, you are the gold standard in not only training horses but also in being an owner and horsewoman and I am SUCH a fan of your work and I literally love Milo's story so much I have no words for it. You're both amazing. Amazing.
Well said, me too. I'm getting back to horses after a long time, but then, the horses don't care where you are in life. Everyone here knows that. They are such a gift.
To think that a 400 dollar horse could turn into this hardworking bundle of sass and character! You've done such a superb job with him, both of you have put in so much work to get to this point!
He seems to really have matured in the last year-year and a half. His topline is sublime now. I wondered how Olim is doing these days, haven’t seen him in a while!!
Hi can you sale me and my dad a horse please we will give you 500 dollars or 800 dollars please my cousin she can't here so I want to make her happy for her birthday please if I can't give money I will clean the horse poop or give them food please 🙏😢😭

Horses like Milo dont come around very often and the bond and relationship you have with him is even more rare. If you're ever lucky enough to encounter anything close to what Milo and Shelby share, you are extremely blessed. I personally have been blessed with a very similar bond with my QH, my son, my number 1, he is my equine soulmate.
It is very obvious the bond you and Milo have. He is such a lucky horse to have you in his life and visa versa, Following the two of you has been a pleasure. You are exceptional with horses. The world needs many more like you... Thanks so much for sharing!
You've brought Milo so far, and learned so much from each other. You should be very proud of yourself Shelby Dennis, for all you've accomplished with every horse that has been put into your hands. Best Regards and wishing you and your family to remain Safe, while COVID-19 is still going on. From Ontario, Canada, Jenn.
Milo really is a testament to how incredible you are! I think that one of the reasons you're such an amazing equestrian is because you always strive to do the best for your horses, even if that may go against something you've previously said/done. I love your journey together, mainly because it's not putting a golden screen over it and making it look like you "fixed" him and did it 2 years, with shortcuts and abuse. I'm currently working with my first horse, a 5 y/o OTTB and it's been quite discouraging sometimes, and there have definitely been times where I've thought about selling him, but then I think about your journey with Milo and I realize that nothing with horses is perfect and it's never going to be easy and smooth sailing. You're really a great role model, especially because of how you grow and try new things. Thank you so much for continuing to be awesome and upholding good, moral horsemanship values that define true equestrianism.
I cant help but notice your growth too. Of course you've grown technically from your position in the saddle, but the strength and confidence with which you carry yourself is something I strive for. I think both you and milo must have grown immensely together ❤
Milo makes me smile the biggest smile. What a character he is and clearly your best horse friend. Wow, you really took a leap of faith (later literally--ha ha) on that crazy, scrawny rescue horse. If it wasn't for the same look in his eye/on his face, I just couldn't believe he was the same horse. He is so gorgeous and muscly now. His neck is 2x wider or more. So amazing, Shelby -- what an amazing journey for both of you. Milo is so lucky you found him. I'm not sure anyone else could've brought that diamond in the rough through the way you did. Looking at you and Milo makes me so happy. As always, thank you for sharing him with us.
Watching these clips of you and Milo... I remember them like they happened yesterday and I would think, “What shenanigans will Milo try and pull on Shelby today!?!?” Look how far you both have come !! It’s truly INCREDIBLE 💙 Great job with him Shelby he is Amazing because of you always being his rock over the years!
One of the first videos I saw on your channel was the “What makes a great horse / 5 years with Milo” one from last year. I remember thinking “Wow. That’s my dream, right there, to bond with a horse like that.” You guys inspire me in every single video, and I cannot believe how far Milo has come since you first got him. He really is one special guy. 🧡
I really respect how you took the time to work through all the issues and you still let him be himself! You are so inspirational to me and someday I want to do what you are doing!

So glad I’ve been able to follow you and Milo on this beautiful journey 💕 Found you on Tumblr right after you got Milo and I can’t tell you how much I love you both and how beautiful you both are! 💖✨
You are my favorite rider/trainer. I feel like you have a wonderful combination, of experience, compassion, and knowledge, to bring any horse along, and your riding is just a pleasure to watch! I'm 60 years old, and have owned and ridden horses almost my whole life.
You’ve done amazing with him. It’s truly amazing to see him grow and not loose any of his personality. He’s very lucky to have found a home with you. ❤️
I remember the first video I was recommending on your channel was Milos 4 year transformation video. At the time I’d retired my horse a ways prior and I had given up on riding. Something about y’all’s story was what I needed to see that day. I started riding again, I spend way more time with my retired horse than I had in the past and I’ve gotten to meet some wonderful horses and people. I love watching your channel but I especially love this video every year cause I love watching your and milos story, and knowing it helped me to not give up on something I’ve always loved so much.
This made me cry because you never gave up and you always loved him even with his corks and I wish I wish there were more people in the world like that because you looked past everything and still saw a horse with a personality and feelings and treated him like such 🥰 brings me so much joy to see stories like this he is such a good lookin red headed boy too he turned into something all right and probably would of never made it to where he’s at now if it wasn’t for your gracious and beautiful heart
I got started with horses within the last two almost three years, that's when I started watching your channel. At first, I was skeptical honestly but seeing your videos with your horses I have learned a ton, and thank you for showing your journey. Is it possible for you to go to counselling where you can talk to someone who can help you? Both Shelby and I have been through some pretty significant challenges and trauma in our lives and believe me, our emotional states definitely go through ups and downs. Continue several times. I also try to use mantras to combat the negative voice in my head that says I’m not doing well enough. Sometimes my mantra is “you love well” , sometimes it is simply “you’re okay”. I repeat the mantra silently in my head. Another thing that has helped me when I’m overwhelmed and feeling hopeless is to stop looking so far ahead. I will repeat to myself “one minute, one hour and one day at a time”. Another thing that has helped me when I’m overwhelmed and feeling hopeless is to stop looking so far ahead. I will repeat to myself “one minute, one hour and one day at a time”.
Sending love and support from afar❤️
