This used to be my favorite song of all time when Iron Maiden did it, but this takes my love for this song to new heights, securing the fact that Children Of Bodom is indeed my favorite band.
In songs that are covers bands just play the original but put their own feel to it. Thats all Children of Bodom did. So it's not bad if you listen to their other music.
I was thinking the opposite, I mean Im not a COB fan either but I thought this cover was a little lacking.The keyboards & over the top shredding guitar solo that doesnt even resemble the original one was a little off putting.They play very well, I just dont appreciate their style for covering maiden. They do a Britney Spears cover thats pretty fucking amazing though 8- )

I do like this cover and appreciate COB showing respect to one of the greatest bands of all time.
I think that every metalhead who listens to either Iron Maiden or Children of Bodom should take a pledge, to never argue with one another over which band is better. Contemporary metal is one thing, it is brutal and dark and aggressive, I love it, but you also have to appreciate what bands like Iron Maiden did for the scene, and are still doing. We're all on the metalhead boat, we should be together, smiting emos and hating metalcore, not hating other types of real metal.
@kikin1976 scream vocals doesn't damage your vocal chords if you learn to do it right. The power comes mainly from lungs and diaphragm, throat only shapes the voice a lil bit. It's a common missconception that death and black metal vocals comes from the throat

The exact definition of Vocalist for you: vo·cal·ist [voh-kuh-list] -noun a singer. Taken straight for the dictionary. And yes, death growling is STILL considered singing because it has to do with changing pitch (don't tell me a death growl isn't a pitch change) to a rhythm.
@MEGADETH2030 : creating covers is a form of showing respect. CoB is respecting (and still listening) classic metal bands. No wonder that such a band like CoB can add some additional energy to that song (I also admit it would hard for them add something to songs like Hallowed be thy name or powerslave)
@soanvig94 I've never had a problem with highs. I guess certain people can do those easier, though I can also growl pretty well. Then again, I'm a drummer, so I don't focus on vocals... I don't think I get up as high as Alexi does, though, so that's a good point. Alexi isn't exactly in the black metal shriek range, but he's still pretty high up there.
I like COB and this cover is great ^^ It's true that it dousn't sound anything like the original, but this is COB ! so no clean vocals, no super heavy bass etc. For pure "heavy" metal fans the screaming vocals may be unusual or disgusting but I like it ^^
Why do I keep finding crappy Iron Maiden covers? I've only herd on good Iron Maiden cover and that was Number of the Beast by Kreator, but I guess no one can pull off the amazing singing that is Bruce Dickinson
that's the point of covers though, not to sound like the band you are covering. You want a great cover then check of Chris Jericho's version of The Evil That Men Do. Or Chuck Billies cover of Fear Of The Dark
