My perfect Midnight club 5? Setting: Japan (not just Tokyo). Although I loved having multiple cities, I think having a large map set in Japan would fit well. The map should contain massive mountains (each with their own unique ambient colour and look), and cities connected by massive highways (again, each with their own distinct look). Vehicles: Vehicles would be divided into "Classes" and "Tiers" (Tiers would differentiate stock speed. Tiers are unlocked through progression). Classes would include Compact (Suzuki Capachino, Mazda MX5's, Mini Cooper, VW Beetle etc), Classics (Datsun 240, Skyline Hakosuka, Mustang '65, Camaro '69 etc), Tuners (includes cars from notable generations, not just latest generations. So you get to race Impreza 22b's against Blob-eyes, Hawk-eyes and Stink-eyes, while racing Skyline R34's against R33's, R32's and even R30's, besides having European and US tuners as well), Small Truck (Nissan Hardbody, Datsun 620, Mazda Repu etc), Luxury (Toyota JZX100, Lexus GS300, BMW M5 etc), Trucks/SUV (Dodge Van, Toyota Tacoma, Cadillac Escalade), Classic Sportscars (Lamborghini Diablo, Lamborghini Murcielago (damn it makes me feel old calling it a classic), Ferrari Testarossa (if Ferrari would allow), Porsche 911 (930 and 993), Honda NSX etc) Supercars (Lamborghini Huracan, Porsche 911 (991 and 992), Nissan GTR R35, McLaren 650, etc), Classic bikes (Suzuki Katana 750, Honda NR750, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-7R, etc) Sportbikes (Kawasaki Ninja H2, Suzuki Hayabusa, Aprilia RSV4, Ducati Panigale), Cruisers (Custom choppers, Harley-Davidsons, Kawasaki Vulcan, Suzuki M109) Events: Street races (in tight streets, as is expected from most Midnight Club games), Highway races (very similar to Pro Street's speed races), Drift, Touge (NFS Carbon, but with more fluid car handling), Drag events, Cop chases (MW 2005 styled Bounty events) and Race Circuits (best to go with unlicensed fictional tracks, similar events to NFS Pro Street). Customisation: Obviously, there will be different customisation choices available for different events. Drift, Drag, and Track races will encourage players to customise cars accordingly (a car built to Time Attack specs won't be fast for Drag events and will be extra grippy for drift events). Bikes can be modified much more than in the previous games. Engine swaps are allowed too, so you can put in Busa engines into your cars if you like. Gameplay: Like MC 3, the player starts racing in small time street races and gets invitations to race against various different street crews. Unlike MC 3, each crew doesn't represent a vehicle class, but rather a combination of vehicle class and general location on the map they race in. No heavy story elements, just a simple "race, win, unlock, race again" progression system. The more you play, the more areas of the map are unlocked. Other features: The player has the ability to purchase more garages, and customise their appearances and vehicle placement (ideas taken from Auto Modellista and Test Drive Unlimited). The crews are also much more fleshed out than in MC 3. Crews now respond to your driving style (like in Road Rash), which affects your respect level to that gang and will trigger different cutscenes and racing styles used by the AI accordingly. It could also affect rate of game progression (having high respect will earn cars and car parts faster)

Midnight club 2 is my favorite racing game ever. Takes me back to 2008 when i was raging to beat Savo. Dont know how 7 year old me did that, but it was an amazing time

I remember playing MCLA and was absolutely amazed by how good it was it never received the attention it deserved even now I just enjoy MCLA more then any other racer out there. Really hope they either do a remaster or a new MC

Rockstar can ace the racing genre if they decide to release the next Midnight Club right now. There is a lot of fatigue associated with Need for Speed and Forza, people just need a new formula that Rockstar can bring to the table.
