I don't know what I envy you more: the finds... or the beautiful, loose dirt! Here in East Tennessee, we have lots of red/brown clay and chert! Thanks for sharing your awesome finds with us!
Quite surprised you don’t have more subscribers. These fur trade era Relics your finding are incredible and quite rare in most of the areas in the US. I really like your videos, keep up the awesome hunts! That concave button thing you found might be a piece of a hawk bell
Thanks for watching and the feedback. This era in history is as old as it gets where I live. Not to mention an exciting and scary time in early westward expansion. I believe the button to be an early French style but I do find lots of hawk bells.
Silver broaches were the most common item traded for furs. They were light to carry and easy to produce. The natives wore them on their clothes so they also were easily lost.
It depends on the type of find. For the silver items I typically just put them in lemon juice for ten minutes and rinse. Iron items I sand off the chunky rust and then soak in evapo rust overnight.
You need to stop rubbing your dirty thumb on your finds. It like you are using cheap sandpaper on the surfaces of your finds. Carry a small spray bottle of water to clean the surface as you try to figure out what it is you have found.. …… Lost Hunter 😊
