  • The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Argonne National Laboratory hosted a virtual roundtable, Building Bridges Across the Battery Ecosystem, on October 29, 2021 to announce the launch of Li-Bridge, a new public-private partnership to bridge gaps in the domestic lithium battery supply chain.
The roundtable outlined how Li-Bridge will help accelerate the development of a robust and secure domestic supply chain for lithium-based batteries in accordance with the National Blueprint for Lithium Batteries, 2021 - 2030, released earlier this year by the Federal Consortium for Advanced Batteries.
Putting the U.S. on a path to long-term competitiveness in the global battery value chain, the Blueprint outlines five critical goals to creating a domestic lithium-battery supply chain that generates equitable, clean-energy jobs in the U.S., while mitigating climate change. The roundtable featured:
    KEYNOTE SPEAKER
David Turk, Deputy Secretary, U.S. Department of Energy
    FEATURED SPEAKER
    U.S. Senator Dick Durbin
    MODERATOR
Paul Kearns, Argonne National Laboratory Director
    PANELISTS
Renata Arsenault, President-elect of NAATBatt International and Technical Expert,
Advanced Battery Recycling at the Ford Motor Company
William Acker, Executive Director of the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST)
Julie Blunden, board member of New Energy Nexus
David Howell, Acting Director of the Vehicle Technologies Office,
chair of the Federal Consortium for Advanced Batteries (FCAB)
This event builds on DOE’s Oct. 27 announcement of $209 million for electric vehicles battery research: www.energy.gov...
