I think we should label these 3 early Sonic fangames in different "The first [blank] Sonic game" Sonic Boom is the first full Sonic fangame Mini Sonic is the first playable Sonic fangame Sonic Game Preview is the first executable Sonic... uh fangame? Even then, it doesn't really matter which it's the true first fangame, as the discussion is divided and cannot reach a full-on agreement, but at least, be fascinated how early the fans were creating their own game based on Sonic
I think both the first and second parts of your comments are great ideas. Seeing the early world of Sonic Fan gaming was quite a fascinating one and every game there deserves to be awed over. The fact they were able pull any of these off at such a time as they did is a sheer testament to both their skills and dedication, as such they all are worthy of the highest respect in The Sonic Fan Gaming Community.

Not only is it a subject I find fascinating, (both the Sonic fan game and the internet archaeology aspects), but after spending a few days reflecting on it, I think I really enjoyed how unlike in the vast majority of my videos, I went into it not knowing how it was going to end. Normally when I write a video I know where it'll go, if not specifically, then at least a general idea. This video was just as much as a video of discovery for me, as it is for anyone else who watches it. My next video will be out in less than 12 hours and it will deal with an issue related to internet archaeology, Link Rot. Though it is formatted a bit differently.

The actual first ever sonic fangame is actually sonic robo blast 2 released in 1997 for pc built on the doom engine
