Awesome review Nick The Legend of Ruby Sunday and Empire of Death has to be my favourite story of Series 14 and my favourite Ncuti Gatwa story in general. Loved the revolation of Ruby's biological mother, the Doctor sure rocked the Greaser outfit from Grease. And Setec made a terrifying return from Pyramids of Mars, his redesign is so great and his defeat was epic with the Doctor flying him through the vortex. And that cliffhanger has me eager for more can't wait to find out who's that mysterious woman don't let us down Russel!

In further response, I am glad you love this episode but I'm sorry I thought it was a mixed bag. Good elements (mostly in Legend) but also quite a few weak stuff (mostly in Empire). If you haven't seen the full review I won't spoil and reccomend watching it. If or after you have, I can follow this comment up with a more spoilery or personal feelings response. All I'll say for now is I (kind off) agree with you on the mother revelationand and agree with you on Sutekh's reveal, but disagree with the re-desgin (at least, for his full apperance) and heavily disagree with you on the climax (that's my biggest issue with the story). Also that mysterious woman has a name (Mrs Flood). I have a theory surrounding her that I go into in the review...
Okay :) wasn't certain earlier because of the time. But yeah whilst I thought Legend was great set up, Empire was a big let down and the climax was pretty bad (besides some of The Doctor's lines). However I am one of the few who did like the revelation of the mother (despite some bits that didn't line up, hence the Mrs Flood involvement theory). Whilst I enjoyed the episodes (more or less) I can't help but feel there are issues with them (mainly Empire) and understand why fans who like them less do so (apart from for silly reasons off course).
I'm going to disagree with you on the reveal. I understand why people don't like it and that there are a few things that don't add up. This is where my theory in the main Whoons review comes in (more detail thete). Also Rouge was f-ing amazing so major disagree there.
