- 《目莲救母》源于佛教故事，最早见于东汉初由印度传入我国的《佛说盂兰盆经》。主要讲述的是：目莲的母亲刘氏四真，家中甚富，然而吝啬愚昧。目莲却极有佛心而且孝顺。刘氏瞒着儿子，杀牲开斋，骂僧辱佛，甚至火烧斋棚，烧伤僧众。目莲知道后十分伤心，为替母赎罪，到灵山投佛陀门下，削发为僧。母死后被打入阴曹地府，受尽苦楚。目莲为救母亲而历尽险阻，到地狱中见到了受苦的母亲。目莲欲救母出地狱，但因他的母亲生前的罪孽，总不能救出母亲。目莲无计可施，祈求于佛。佛指点目莲，欲救其母，必须广施仁爱于天下，普度天下苦难人才能救母之苦难。教目莲于七月十五日建盂兰盆会，借十方僧众之力，诵经超度亡灵。目莲乃依佛嘱，于是有了七月十五设盂兰盆会供养十方僧众以超度亡灵的佛教典故。经过目莲与高僧七天七夜的念经，他的母亲终脱苦海进入天堂。

I was waiting to see this story for a long time. I heard my parent mentioned about this story when i was a kid. Back then this movie came out in theater, there were so popular in all Asia, I hope someone have that original movie and able to post on TH-cam. Recently, I only see this story played by Vietnamese Opera. Now I have a change to see this story that is perform by Teochow Opera. I'm so proud and love to watch. Thanks for posting
