  • A longer walk around and talk to describe some of the working parts on my 5" gauge model of 4472 Flying Scotsman... I should point out a few 'doh' moments from me, such as calling the Wakefield lubricators 'Westfield'? and when talking about the inside connecting rod, for some unknown reason I referred to it as a 'return crank'..??? must be an age thing...:)

Incredible walk around! Thanks for the informative commentary. Learned a lot. Just superb workmanship to the finest detail. A brilliant labour of love resulting in a masterpiece of miniaturized engineering.

I just hope there is a model engineering exhibition at some time in the future where I see this. Superb.

Hi.. sorry but it's not a kit, this model is scratch built to Don Young's plans...the plans are called 'Doncaster' and are available through Reeves 2000...cheers

My bad...there are no white pinstriping on the spokes, only around the axel and around the outer diameter of the tyres.

Beautiful looking model. Just one question though! This is the 'Grass Green' livery and she did have white pin striping on the wheels and spokes. Are you going to include these in your final livery?

Fantastic, you deserve so much credit! I assume this is the same engine that is in the engineering magazine at the moment? Take care

Excellent videos you are putting out on this model! Couple of questions any new progress? And is this model going to be coal fired?

Hi Rudy, my apologies for the late reply, I've only just got control of YT back thanks to my IT son...in answer to your questions. I have a blog where all new progress is recorded, 4472flyingscotsman.co.uk , it is also updated on a number of ME forums and is currently serialised in the Model Engineers magazine although these articles are about 10 years behind where she is today. Yes she will be coal fired...cheers
