The opening guitar riff is so recognizable, George had such a great style. After watching the Get Back doc, you have to be impressed at how sweet a guy George was, when he helped Ringo with Octopus' Garden it nearly brought a tear to my eye. Trouble getting your songs on the Beatles records? They'll only give you two songs? Okay, no problem, just write two of the most iconic songs ever for the Abbey Road album, Something and Here Comes the Sun, a little poetic justice there.
And McCartney, that dude. Was reluctant to even say those two songs didn't suck. The way McCartney was towards Harrison was awful. Lennon wasn't much better, but by 1969, at least he was starting to realise how much they had undermined him. They made careers out of telling people Ringo Starr and George Harrison just didn't matter. Within the first 2 years of their breakup, it was Ringo and George that were kicking all kinds of ass in the charts.

I have to say I like George's version better, I love the sound of his voice when he's singing this song. Great writer and performer. He's greatly missed. What a kind gentle man he was.

Nothing against Ringo, esp since I'm a drummer myself, but George is my fav Beatle. If he would've released this song it would've topped the charts, but being the beautiful, generous & giving friend he was, he gave it to Ringo. That says all you need to know about the man.

George Harrison was to the Beatles what John Paul Jones was to Led Zeppelin. A truly great musician who didn't crave limelight or notoriety, only to allow his legacy to prove it.
I didn't know such a crisp and clear version of this song even existed. I'm so used to the bootleg version. To write a song like this and then simply give it away - it's amazing and absolute proof if any was needed of how strong the friendship of George and Ringo was.

And if that isn’t cool enough it had three songs from George’s only tour from 1974. Anyway if there’s a clear and crisp version of the song I’ve never heard it. Regardless I prefer George’s version myself. I don’t know if George was just oblivious to how good the song was or was just feeling generous that day. Either way it’s the best song any of the other three tossed Ringo’s way ( check out John’s ‘Cookin’ (In the Kitchen of Love) if you doubt it 🙄).

I don't think he was overlooked. His guitar and unerringly tasteful contributions were everywhere. John generously gave him Do You Want to Know a Secret and I'm Happy Just to dance with You so that he could be featured. When George came up with Taxman it was placed as the opening cut to arguably their greatest album with a great arrangement and Paul's fabulous guitar. John acknowledged the brilliance of his songs on Abbey Road and they were featured most prominently. Each Beatle was exactly where he belonged with the possible exception of Paul who was overly indulged in the granny department.
Pre- chorus pedal era. Double or triple tracked guitars , at least one thru a rotating Leslie organ speaker cab, and/or Univibe (early phaser). Could also have 'manual' flanging added..that is done post- performance in the studio. But yes, agree 1000% :)
