As you can see he doesn't need bitches, nor naked girls, nor lyrics about pussies, whore, ect, to make his song famous, hope you got my point. He is one of the greatest artist, love him so much. He is an amazing rapper.
Maha Ab he truly is a inspiration, I love his art and his music. He inspired me to create dope art and music, hopefully you can take the time out to check out my channel and sub but its all love, man enjoy dope music
Yeah I meant rapper, I was typing so fast I guess. :3 thank you for correcting me guys ! But it's just I was typing without paying attention, it happens.
In the middle of the song…”the part the thugs skip” I literally remember crying real tears in high school after my first breakup…this album was everything to me in 2016
I absolutely love this song and the video. The video is awesome on its own but the lyrics are pretty deep with a bit of a throwback sound. Reminds me of early 2000's late 90's music.
I love j cole he is incredibly talented I would love to see him in the big screen. He would be amazing in acting or producing❤all his music videos have a story and I love that
Love the way he touched upon privilege between black communities. Cole is black, but treated better due to money, status as celeb, light skin, etc. But all black people come together in the end despite social standing because under the racist ruling, are all still oppressed. The white girl helping them represents allyship. We must ALL come together to stop these injustices.
Look, I 100% detest ANY forms of racism, and I would stand beside anyone to fight against it. I am curious what "racist ruling" you are referring to though?
@@Chima207 If the racism is so subtle, then how is it a "racist ruling?" I cant think of one law or regulation that is perpetuating racism. There are certainly, socially racist interactions in many communities. But those are between many different ethnic groups of people. Meaning, racism exists socially between so many racial groups, that it would be dishonest to single out Black people as the most oppressed. Im down to shun people for any racially motivated aggression. But our laws are pretty fair and racism is generally hated and fought. I think there will always be some racists. Thats terrible, but I find it a bit dishonest to be telling people that slavery hundreds of years ago is responsible for the overall success of American society, and therefore, has left this powerful unseen racial hatred. You called it subtle, I imagine you actually believe it to be more severe. I just think most Americans would shut a racist down immediately if they had an interaction with one. Out of curiousity, can give any examples of the "subtle" racism and explain how they are hurting people?
@@Chima207 Nothing? I mean you would really smear an entire country without any examples. That is shocking to me. Also, if you live in America... then youre already very privileged. Seriously.
@@victoriabrown5022 oh i was not aware! that doesn't negate my point tho, and doesn't take away from his blackness either. but thanks for letting me know!
J Cole is one of the few artists that put soul into his music. Most are after money and no legacy. Once jermaine's career ends best believe he will be one of the greatest hip hop artists to ever have touched a mic
That's because most rappers todays ain't proving themselves anymore tho. They just here to get money and media attention. Only few rappers like J cole/Kendrick Lamer are proven themselves worthy excluded Lil Wayne/Nicki #Ugh
***** Nicki Minaj is easily the best female rapper in the game right now. She's also one of the nicest people on this planet. She gets legitimately upset when her younger fans skip school to go to her shows. Kanye really almost cut her verse out of Monster because he seriously thought it was the best part of the entire album. But Lil Wayne is... irredeemable.
It seems to me, that this video is a metaphor for where Cole is in his life. He sees himself as a slave, but one who has more comforts than most. He doesn't receive the respect of his people for this, because they believe he sold out at their expense (that he is a puppet of the white man). Though what he comes to reveal later on, was that it is his elevated position that he will leverage as a means of freeing his people. He is sacrificing luxury, and everything he is in order to see his own free. I believe he uses music as his vessel to do this, and perhaps this gives us more insight as to why Cole is driven beyond belief. Why his music constantly reaches out to illuminate the dark path, kept hidden by the distractions of our world.
@@ritikmota9276 one of my absolute favorites actually. There's a cool remix of it out there too. I am just a huge J Cole fan - as an Artist (Actor) I hope to bring the same level of intention and honesty to my work. Cole is one of my heroes.

***** I do Agree. J. Cole is one of my favorite singers and feel that all of his songs send some sort of message that a lot of people should hear. (They'd learn a lot ;p)
For those of ya'll saying that it has nothing to do with the song you're wrong. He's telling you everybody thinks he's a sell out, but he's working for a change, just waiting on his opportunity to strike. Cause just like in the video they think he's just playing a house nigga, but he set his people free. (edit) - Oh shit I'm top comment... I make music bishes check me out...
Justin 3 most were put in the fields. If you have ever heard of the brown paper bag test it kind of explains. If you match or are lighter than the color of the paper bag you go to the house. If darker you go to the fields. But in some cases if you were handsome or pretty enough and couldn’t tell light or dark they would be made personal slaves. They were often raped and beaten then sometimes sent to work in the fields naked to show others their scars

I absolutely love this song and the video. The video is awesome on its own but the lyrics are pretty deep with a bit of a throwback sound. Reminds me of early 2000's late 90's music.

Seriously.

***** Yea Jay Rock is better than both of them
***** Nicki Minaj is easily the best female rapper in the game right now.
