I believe that she was Lana Del Rey at this time. She was at least in the middle of Lana Del RAY and Lana Del REY - it's just a shortened version of the same - like a nickname.

I'm not 100% sure on this but I believe the origin of the name was from her boyfriend Ray, there was a line in her song Wayamaya "We changed our names to Lana and Ray", so Lana Del Ray means "Lana of Ray" like she was his. This song was recorded in 2007, and Lana kept the Ray spelling all the way to 2010 when she released the album "Lana Del Ray aka Lizzy Grant". Then in 2011 that's when she changed the spelling to Rey to have a more Spanish influence. So that is why I spelled it "Ray", bc that's how she had it then.

I also think lana del rey (rey means King in spanish) puts forth that vibe of hers of being a man's woman and born to die was very regal and a lot of her songs have this tinged form of love that feels like a power imbalance which can reflect that her name means Lana of the King / the King's Lana. it's the way she's framed as the possessive of a man that she worships that I think comes thru in a lot of her music.
