Hey. So, I belong to the furniture industry too. I think you need to rethink on the statement passed by you, “Life of Particle Board/Engeneered wood furniture is generally 1-2 years”. You have generalised particle board furniture to an extent where people after watching your video, will have a mindset that particle board furniture does not possess good quality. If you know about it, particle board furniture also has various qualities, just like every other material. A good particle board furniture from a trusted company like Zuari, lasts more than 5-8 years with ease! I am saying this because we have been in the industry for more than 21 years. So, before passing out statements, please make sure to do your homework. Also, please note that I don’t work for Pepperfry or Urban Ladder or any other online furniture company. But what is true must be known by the viewers. So I urge you to not pass such statements.
I have a sofa set from past 30-40years and the wood is still as it is so I agree with him and nobody want to invest in furniture that lasts only 5-6 years.

People want to buy the cheapest furniture and expect it to last decades. To meet these demands, carpenters and small local manufacturers started making Bakas (sugarcane) based particle board furniture, which was very cheap but also very poor in strength. Eventually, people formed negative perceptions due to this. However, over the years, the particle board industry has grown, and since 100% wooden-based particle boards were introduced, the durability of furniture has increased significantly (easily up to 6-7 years if the furniture isn't frequently assembled and dismantled). But the perception of people hasn't changed much because carpenters and small manufacturers still use cheap particle boards. If anyone now wants to buy durable particle board furniture, it will cost them slightly less than plywood furniture. Instead of buying from cheap local manufacturers, they should go for brands like Crystal Furnitech, Spacewood, Alder and Zuari etc.All these companies have a nationwide presence and dealers all over India and they cater to middle class people.
It is all about the preference. I would like to change my furniture every 5 - 7 yrs. I don’t wanna furniture thats last till I die.. thanks for your suggestion

I bought online double bed wardrobe combo.for rs 40,000., Just 2 months back And now its full of molds and fungus... Its wood is so inferior..made of waste materials.. and when i initiated return as its within warranty time of 1 year. They have refused to take return and refund. We are so angry. We bought online as there was lockdown.no shops were open. All our money went down drain. Now we are thinking of filing a case in consumer court against pepperfry. They are fraudsters.its beds have no boxes as promised. They are cheating people.
It’s obviously without a doubt that solid wood is best. The price of solid wood is way high and beyond. However engineered wood is much affordable and of more modern design so it suits a lot of younger people. The local store don’t always have the best design and quality control. Also I’ve used an engineered wood bed for 6 years now within which I had to move it thrice having it disassembled and reassembled. So the blanket statement that engineered wood is bad and will last only 1-2 years is not a fair statement. If you consider the budget, design, care of use and quality of the engineered wood itself, it can be a much better choice for some people. However I do agree with the large mark up prices since these sites spend a lot of money on beading and marketing

They just take your money from the UPI account.
Only solid wood and plywood is strong enough to last decades. Bed and sofa should never be made out of engineered wood or particle board or MDF. Cupboards and cabinets can be made out of these weaker materials if you aren't going to keep very heavy stuff in them.

sofa buying online is a nightmare. You never know what materials they have used and if the sofa is of actually good quality. Godrej is scamming customers by providing cheap quality materials in their furnitures. Do you have good recommendation for sofas? I want to have the best bang for the buck. My budget is 40000

Hi Team, , it was really useful watching this video, I need a help on purchasing furniture , i'm planning to buy sofa thought of going to pepperfry or urban ladder but as u said we are not aware of the wood inside the furniture and after few years it may get damaged, but the other option to get customised from carpenter as another drawback is that we won't receive the final product as we actually wished to have because i've an experience we will ask the carpenter to do as we actually dreamt off and shown the design which we need but the outcome will be something else. But urbanladder or other furniture company as different designs we need but material won't satisfy so in this case what to do ?

I have bought solid wood furniture from both Urban Ladder and in Saraf. Urban Ladder is professional and really good quality and service compared to in Saraf which is a fraud, lying and arrogant. Will promise you delivery within about 20 days and deliver not before 2 months. And pray u don't get damaged stuff from them coz if you do they won't replace or return your money. #Insarafchorhai

Can you please share your opinion on FabIndia solid Sheesham wood furniture? I have checked their collection and liked a few pieces but they are offering a warranty of 2 years which makes me sceptical. I have inherited a collection of classic Burmese teak wood furniture and I am holding onto it as if it's treasure which definitely it is. However, I am searching for few more pieces now and I am yet to come across solid wood furniture that I can compare with my classic Burmese teak wood furniture. Please suggest me if it's worth investing money in ready made solid wood furniture available at some of these stores. (I am very clear, I am not buying any furniture online. Checked Potterybarn but it is on the dearer side!)

Pepperfry is a total crap. They sell furnitures stating 12 months warranty and the every items that I purchased from Pepperfry becomes faulty after 4-5 months and they close the case stating wear and tear. Such a spam they are. If you don't want to waste money, don't buy anything from Pepperfry. Even my friends who purchased have faced the same issues

Are you saying engineering wood or particle wood have one or two year of life ??....then why they are selling at so high price ....for e.g 36k charged by godrej interio showroom (shop) and flipkart pepperfry is charging 30k to 32k .approx...king size bed ..... Same type of design in both the locations.....whom we have to purchase please suggest as both are providing enginnered wood???
Engineered wood is nothing but wood prepared by wood dust. Desired laminate sheets are glued for attraction. They don t have shelf life. I prefer to search for local carpenter and fulfil your need. Even local wood furniture is little more durable and prices not so varies. For genuine teakwood beds it costs about 35 to 38 k in local. So better to opt for genuine wood rather than engineered wood furnitures.

I totally agree with you.I have had a bitter experience with Pepper Fry.
Never buy sofa or anything online they have huge profit margin and if you go to local store i can guarantee that a 50k Sofa will cost you around 30-35k as Pepperfry has huge cut and they spend huge amount of money in Marketing too... remember their Brand Ambassador is Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan.. those idiots dont come cheap.
Also local store you can check the furniture thoroughly before you buy.. Never buy any furniture online..
