It is said that R.D.Burman cried while recording this song because of the way Kishore sang it in high notes. This was the second of the series of three films in which Gulzar directed Jeetendra. The other two films were “Parichay” (1972) and “Kinara” (1977). All three films had R.D. Burman’s music and Gulzar’s lyrics.

I am not a music expert but what I really admired about Kishore Kumar was not just his good voice but how extremely versatile his voice was. In one song his voice would be very cheeful and in another very sad and in another sombre and heavy and in some songs soft. The pitch used to vary from one song to another depending on the type of the song.
Some other singers are really great and even more famous, but they could not produce the vast variety of songs Kishore was able to produce. A true Legend in my opinion.
Other singers sang with a view to showcase the vibrations of their vocal chords and their training to get the perfect tone and pitch essentially putting their imprint on the song. Kishore on the other hand selflessly bowed and accompanied the actors for 3-4 minutes espousing their joyful mood or melancholic musings, that's why he is in a class of his own. What he brings to the table cannot be learned through a master, it is inborn talent.
