Still waiting for my Speccy NEXT ..my Dad in his 70s keeps mentioning it but he doesn't get the whole Kickstarter narrative so both my parents think I've been "had" 😅 mind you it is a long old wait but I'm still looking forward to setting it up and learning to program properly (I'm 50) I only dipped my toes in with basic on the Vic 20 back in 1983 and magazine listings (Big K magazine)
The xberry pi is an awesome little product and really opens up a lot of opportunities for fun things like mini arcade next cabinets, portable mini netbook sized nexts and so on handhelds. A second joystick port probably isn't necessary with the latest core because you can probably map any second controller to the keyboard via the ps2 with a bit of jigger pokery
Great video! Where can I buy the same PS/2 splitter that you have? I heard that some of them doesn't work with a keyboard and mouse combo, instead they're used to connect two keyboards OR two mice.
Hey PJG, I believe the raspberry pi is needed to allow the next to 'hear' .tzx format files (perfect audio). The Next without pi acceleration cannot read this format. Hope that helps!
The soldering of the header pins on the raspberry pi looks pretty janky. Whoever soldered it might want to invest in some flux paste. Valhalla is awesome tho I could never really figure out how to play it.

Soon you'll be able to show them, I will be 50 very soon :)

It's testament to the Next that people are making things like this.

Could this be mounted inside a ZX +48/128 case?
Great video - thanks. Looks great - whereabouts did you find that PS/2 splitter? All the ones I can find don't have the colour coding (which I hate!)
They seem to be difficult to locate these days. Got mine long ago.
nice vid! thx what kind of raspberry do you use? and what is the name of the wifi module? many thanks
It not a Raspberry it's an X-Berry. Wifi is an ESP8266 ESP-01
@@SpectrumNextStuff I know 🤓but u are using pi for accelerate so are u using a raspberry pi zero or pi zero 2?
@@hasenbeck76 gotcha :) regular Pi Zero
@@SpectrumNextStuff thx
how is this thing called for games? tzx what? and how to get zx spectrum next games? from which source?
What dongle is the one you put in the db9 connector? Greetings
An 8bitDo wireless dongle
Thank you very much!!
What is the purpose on attaching the raspberry pi? And should i need one plug and play, is that possible? (Can't solder)

You mean it's required to accept an external sound source? Won't the Next load TZX files from the browser as is?

That was me, I have flux paste but I can rarely be bothered with it :)
