I'm a JYJ stan, and Back Seat was a mistake. You're not wrong. Doesn't alter the different (from the usual kpop) extraordinary vocals (especially Junsu, the blond) and very atypical arrangement. JYJ had to struggle to get their own sound produced, and early on, even recorded in LA although they couldn't speak English... looking for an LA sound crossover that was also theirs alone. Back Seat was the last of those, fortunately. Please listen to some other JYJ. In Heaven has a long and a short video and shows off their amazing vocals. Anything else from Just Us is good. Yeah I’m not understanding how Back Seat was a mistake. From a musical perspective, this was an R&B track with a 4536 chord progression with great vocal melodies. If anything, I’d argue that this is one of JYJ’s best works.
