People complaining about freedom of speech need to stop. He isn't being arrested. He isn't being stopped from speaking his opinion. He is simply being 'fired' in a sense. You can't go to your own job and say something like 'I will not associate with black people' without your boss saying 'if you aren't going to work with this person/persons you have to leave'

Amendment Rights protect Sterling and all of us from government action not public perception. Sterling referenced his disdain for black people. This is not illegal and he has every right to say such a thing. But he works in a league where a vast majority of its employees are black. This can, and did, cause an uproar.
If nothing had been done then the NBA brand would have been tarnished. He had to go.
If you ran a business in which you served minorities and you had an employee who said "I hate blacks" what do you think you would do? Your sales would dip, money and respect would be lost if you didn't fire that guy.
Yes this is America and you have rights but that also means Adam Silver can act in his private business' best interests.
