Thank you very much Kim - some good results from that. At the end, I think you meant to say: 'anti-caking agent' (in the salt), not: 'anticoagulent', which are blood thinning medications!

Just found you and am learning so much. Have been jewelry making, metals have been new focus. Like not using acid and the resists ??

I am a little puzzled. Shouldn't the metal to be etched, be in direct contact with the anode?

I have no idea what I was talking about and I shared the fact I'd made sure to research the safety properly but couldn't get my head around the technique :) I am dyslexic and really struggled with the science. Kernowcraft shared a gif of me pulling my hair out while trying to remember it all :D It is my nemesis! I usually acid etch but wanted to try out electro etching. I haven't tried it since! One day I'll crack it.

Hi, how do you dispose of the sea salt solution with metal pieces after?

Hiya, I'm with @Koumou57, but I think there was a minute amount of contact between the copper & stainless at the edge. You put both bits of copper on the same anode in the same solution then said after that the one with the white tape on was done in salt??? The current flows from the negative to the positive. I am also dyslexic & an ex spark... I put spark because I can not spell electrisian, never could spell... Stay safe...Steve...

    Noo... I don't need another hobby... 😭
I would like to know what is the minimum thickness for the plate/sheet?
