Love your alternative suggestions. Speaking of the color lifter, I bought one, but it doesn't lift any color. I tried it several times (I go outside the border a lot when coloring) and that the reason I bought one. Do you think there is something wrong with mine?

It’s possible. Have you tried both ends? If you think it’s dried out, give customer service a call and they’ll likely replace it
