    SO glad to hear you’re back in GP Claire 🤗 I’m at an outstanding (rated by CQC) practice too. I don’t think I’d ever go back to one that wasn’t now 😅🙈 The management here is amazing & all the patients love the surgery! The job still has its stresses (which jobs don’t!) but they are totally different stresses to my previous jobs at GP practices! Hope you are getting on well 🤗 xx

    I started on a ward in September, generally a bit of a disaster. As a male nurse, I'm not sure GP or community are likely fits as I've heard about quite a bit of resistance. I'm on the look out for the right long-term fit though.

      I know a few male GPNs! 100% needed! The only things I've seen patients refuse is smears test with males, apart from that, the world's your oyster :D

    This was a lovely video Claire! I just had a question in mind about GP nursing, because I am particularly interested in GP nursing after I graduate in the nursing course. What are your shifts like when working in GP, and what band were, when you were a newly graduate nurse? Thanks xx

      Hey! Amazing to hear this 😀 fantastic place to be!
      Hours are Monday - Friday, weekends off, Bank Holidays off, loving life! ❤
      Pay depends on the GP and what they want to pay you. I was fortunate I found a good GP when I was a NQN and paid £15 an hour, which went up after I finished all my training ❤
      Technically it's a band 6 role, but there's no official banding in GP. Xx

    I’ve tried applying for practice nurse positions but most of them just want nurses with gp practice experience . Help!

    • @ClaireCarmichael
      @ClaireCarmichael  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apply anyway! They won't get many experienced GP nurses applying, so just go for it and show all your transferable skills x

    Hi Claire - just a quick question, I am finishing my nursing training in just a few months time and was wondering if it is at all possible to get my first job in a GP surgery even though I have never been given placements anywhere outside a ward. I really want to try it out but I am a little worried it is going to be as hectic and "thrown in deep end" like some wards can be, and that I will be expected to know lots about GP nursing skills etc ! Thanks x

      @ClaireCarmichael  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can indeed! I did as a NQN, went straight into GP. Just sell yourself, show all your transferable skills on the application and interview. I have a new video coming up on Sunday on what to look for in GP when applying :) That may help too x
