It's very loud indeed but the reason why it's reading 170DB is because the car is inside where sound bounces off the walls and creates a louder sound. (Same concept as the tunnel)

This are not 170 real db. I really love the C63 and its sound, but is impossible to reach 170 db in a street engine. A top fuel deagster (loudest engines in the world) with more than 8.0L of displacement and 8000 HP only reach 150-160 db, and can be heard from 8 or more Km, they shake the ground (3.2 in richter scale), and can produce deafness, why? BEACUASE THEY EVEN HAVE AN EXHAUST...so, if the C63 is 170 db, the camera couldn`t catch the sound. Anyway, very nicee car!

Well why I'm saying this is because a funny car from 10 feet away is 149 dB and a jet fighter from 50 feet away is 151 dB. This is Mercedes with a less restricted exhaust lol
Daniele Lim fair point - mines straight through de cat. It has sls cams so still quite loud but i find its more deeper as apposed to the raspy sound. Plus its locked away!!

I'd never want a switchable exhaust on my 63, pointless..you buy the car for that monster sound.
When you have the renew the MOT it's nice that you don't have to change the exhaust because it's too loud :)
