I'm def a metal girl but I wanted to see what I'd think of one of her songs. I genuinely liked it and even more so towards the end when it got darker. The beat made me bounce around a lil bit, lol. Dude, I remember feeling like that in my 20s. If I had to find a song that showed how I felt in my manic states this would be it. Externally happy then quickly turning morbidly dark. Hyper but eerily calm, a "bad girl don't give a fuck girl", a "Come at me bro but I'm not pressed girl". Later I found out that the mania was Borderline Personality Disorder. For little reason, if any at all, your mood changes drastically. One minute you're on a high and the next you plummet into an odd "Fear and loathing" type darkness. Internally I felt what this video made me feel... just mania. Not bad for a song that's not metal. IMO of course.
That instrumental hook you thought you may have heard was used in the trailer for the movie "Bomb Shell" with Charlize Theron. That's how I discovered Billie, by searching for the music from that trailer. It's how I first went down the Billie Eilish rabbit hole.
She made the beat first for the switch up section in her bedroom. Then they made the rest of the song, including the sidewalk sounds. There's an youtube interview in which she explains how the song's parts came together. That's why she's also credited with producing this song in particular.
If you want a long Billie Eilish song, you should check out "Happier Than Ever". It's her longest song at 5 min.
