id say the best toyota ever is the first awd celica with a stickshift , i forget the exact name of it , the worse i cant say because ive heard alot of good stuff about toyota , as for trucks i wouldnt buy a dodge the steering always goes loose in them , unless you get the dodge pace truck from like 20 years ago that was blue with white stripes it had upgraded steering that wasnt all flunky lol , as for ford i know someone who was tightening part of the engine and a giant chunk broke off the engine lol ford shouldve kept the god damn inline 6 engine god damnit

Over the last 10 years or so, I've really come to appreciate simple cars so that I can do a lot of the maintenance/repair work myself. I have an 02 Silverado with 364k miles. Runs great. Easy to work on. Parts are cheap and plentiful. My other car is an 07 Pontiac Vibe(Toyota Matrix). It has 202k miles and runs perfect. Easy to work on. Parts are cheap and plentiful. Just changed out the cooling fan on the Vibe. Cost $75 for the part(cheaper ones were available) and took 20 minutes to change out. Literally just 2 screws holding it in place and you have to disconnect a small hose and the electrical connection. I'm nowhere near what anybody would call a Mechanic, but I'm not afraid to try (gotta love youtube videos) and anything that I can do myself I will do because it saves a ton of money.

Totally agree. I have been so frustrated with the auto industry, especially Toyota. I have been a die hard Toyota Lexus fan for a while. Now they are abandoning their super reliable naturally aspirated engines for highly complicated, potentially less reliable engines. We shall see if you will actually see Toyotas with 500,000 plus miles on them in the near future, I am highly dubious. The worst part about it, the new Lexus GX460 is rated at 17 mpg with a turbo charged v6. The v8 was almost the same and we recently got 19.6mpg with it on a recent trip. Not seeing where the improvements are, other than future revenue for the dealers and mechanics (no offense).

My 1984 Toyota Half-ton pickup will probably be a family heirloom. And perhaps my 2001 Tundra. The 84 has less miles due to “just for fun” rebuilds and preservation work, it’s our “project/week end fun” truck. The Tundra is our workhorse and over the road heavy hauler. My Tundra is just shy of 500,000 miles and still tight as a drum. Anything that’s gone “wrong” with it has been my fault and not that of the truck. Literally drove the front wheels off it not realizing ball joints should be replaced every 100K or so, instead of 450K. I will forever love what Toyota has done for me and my family. Many, MANY memories. Keep up the awesome work!

To me my 1989 4 cylinder Toyota extended cab pickup truck that I bought back in 1990 is the best Toyota and the first Toyota I’ve ever owned. Sure it’s not anything fancy like today’s extremely high priced trucks are with all the bells and whistle’s but it works for me. I bought it as a retirement gift to myself when I retired from the Air Force. My truck has an aftermarket radio, a/c and it’s automatic. It’s not fast like today’s turbo charged cars and trucks but again it works for me. It’s never let me down and I do my best to take care of it. I’ve had several people asking me if I was willing to sell the truck but I always say no. So I’ll just hold on to it until it breaks down but being a Toyota that may never happen.

I've been working at a toyota dealership for the last 4 years in the service department and consider the 4runners bullet proof a lot of people have them and all I ever have to do is routine maintenance. I would considered the highlander second they are bullet proof too but not as many people have them I believe it has a lot to due with the fuel mileage and price of the vehicle but they are very nice and drive like a high end lexus. If I was buying myself a new toyota I would buy a 4runner if I was buying my wife a new vehicle I would buy her a highlander.

I didn't want to, but I already had a company vehicle I was driving everywhere and some debts I wanted to kill. I've had a Yaris and a Rav4 prior to the FJ. I tell everyone that it was the greatest vehicle ever made. People probably get tired of hearing me talk about it. I absolutely loved the FJ. Didn't even mind the 18 miles to the gallon. Super tight, rode like an animal, the way it should. Ultra-reliable. Ironically, I loved the Yaris for similar reasons. The Rav4 was fine, but a soccer mom vehicle.

From my coveted 4AG’s to LL5’s to L77’s a well built high strung natural aspirated engine is definitely the one you will enjoy longer. Force induction is faster wears faster and eats faster.
