Please take note that this is not a translation of the current national anthem, they are NOT the same. This is the English ver. which replaced the Spanish ver. In short our national anthem went from Spanish to English and finally to Filipino.
Of course, It’s not the same, but it’s close for these kinds of songs, some Tagalog words maybe translated offensively or have double meanings, so they’ll change the song up to something close in meaning, and even if they don’t have double meanings or offensive translation, they’ll still changed it up, to not to mirror the actual song itself, but sort of get the feel of the song.

@SarcasticallyFoolish that is very incorrect, and by that definition, you are saying Ukraine is also genociding Russians right now. The word “genocide” is the intentional act of destroying an ethnic, racial, national groups culture, identity, religion, demographics. Take a look at how germans in ww2 treate the jews in the holocaust, or the current Chinese genocide of its ethnic people in the Xinjang and Tibet provinces. Highly different from just a war between two nations.
When we first hear the English version, we cheer. But when we hear the Spanish one, A.K.A the original version of the song, we question it's authenticity as our anthem, we automatically associate it with our oppressive colonial past. And I don't know why, but I feel disappointed about that. Still though, all versions of our anthem are great, it just sucks how we sometimes forget about our own heritage...
