    Thanks for posting this. Aged 11, I was put on a train at Waterloo by my Dad to stay with a friend who was the son of the chemist in Bramley and taking the branch line train to Bramley & Wonersh just before it closed is a fond childhood memory kept alive by the grainy black and white photos I took with my Ilford Sprite camera.

    Thank you! We lived in Slinfold as kids in 1972 and used to go picking blackberries along the disused railway line. We also kept an eye out for Roman remains, as some remains had been found by others. We never found anything, however.

    As a child,I can remember the trains at Bramley, whilst visiting my aunt in Eastwood Road.She used to complain, about smuts in her washing!!

      Many thanks for your memory of the line. I'm sure that was a common complaint! Your interest in the little video is much appreciated.

      @@svsfilm I’m making a video for Cranleigh parish council for the Queens jubilee and was wondering if I could use the few seconds of footage from this film of the train pulling in to Cranleigh? I would of course credit you for said clip in my final film.

    I know I did this line as a small child, but can't remember anything specific, except for the black locos that hauled us (probably BR 4MTs) being large and very scary when they whistled!

      The locos working the Guildford to Horsham line in its last years were the Ivatt 2-6-2T 2MT locos. Thanks for watching!

    An Ivatt class 4 2-6-0 on Guildford shed! Was she en route back to the Midland from a visit to Eastleigh Works? My old eyes weren't able to see her number. I went on this line very many years ago and remember M7s being used. I also visited Guildford shed and recall a couple of stored G6s in it and a T9 in steam outside. 1:37 1:37

      Many thanks for your comments. Yes the 2-6-0 is number 43063 and it was shedded in North Blyth (52F) until it was withdrawn in 1967. A Guildford fireman recalls it had been at Eastleigh Works for some sort of repairs before returning via Guildford back north. It's certainly a long way from 'home'.

    So intrigued that the train went from Guildford to Horsham via Christs Hospital (Slinfold makes sense as it is NW of Horsham station, CH is more South). Was the journey on a loop? And would it gone to Southwater too? Cheers

      The line from Guildford and Cranleigh joined the main line at Christs Hospital where trains turned north east towards Horsham. Many thanks for your interest.

    what's the cylindrical tube thingy they are handing over?

    • @Timothycan
      @Timothycan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A token without which they cannot proceed on a single track line, thus preventing trains meeting head-on on a single track.
