One of the best beat'em ups ever, Final Fight arcade is immortal and layed the foundation for all of those amazing Capcom CPS2 beat'em ups of the 1990's. Streets of Rage 2 is the only beat'em up pure brawler to surpass it imo.
How the hell did you beat Abigail while only sustaining minor damage. This is the most amazing walkthrough with the character, Haggar, I have ever seen.

All of the mavericks in Mega Man X5 are named after members of Guns N' Roses lol. In Street Fighter II, M. Bison was originally the boxer's name... Mike Bison as in Mike Tyson, but Capcom USA changed it to dictator's name and renamed the boxer as Balrog because they were worried that Mike Tyson's promoter Don King would sue.
What a satisfying game. I do wonder, though, what those enemies who only took one or two hits were thinking when they came after you in the later stages. You've been snapping the spines of guys twice their size, but THEY'LL be the ones to stop you?

My dad was a mayor of a small town back in the early 1990s. He saw this game once and it really tore something loose in his brain. He started to walk around downtown like Mike Haggar and wouldn’t wear his shirt etc. He would come home and just talk about how bad crime was (it wasn’t) and the gangs (there were none). One day my mom and I were at home and the police chief called. They had arrested my dad. Apparently he grabbed a homeless person who was stealing a bike and gave him a double axe punch, then another move which apparently paralyzed him. My dad lost his position of course and went to prison, and my mom and I moved away and tried to rebuild our lives. I found out that the guy he paralyzed many years ago had finally died from a stasis ulcer infection.
Technically Street Fighter 1 came out 2 years before Final Fight, 1987 vs 1989. But Final Fight was Capcom's first big CPS1 arcade hardware game and the game engine was tweaked a bit for Street Fighter II and with that Capcom changed the video game landscape forever.
At stage 5 we can jump on top of a Scoth barrel and a bunch of guys will throw molotov barrels at their own buddies while we rest on top of the whiskey barrels
I wonder why Guy and Cody are there at all. Haggar's the one-man army who did all the work, the ending should be him going home with his daughter like the good dad he is.
The sound effects in this game are crazy good, especially the voice samples. It's laughable that Haggar sounds so mean and growly in the game but in the Mega CD version the voice actor who did him sounded weedy and pathetic. Bad casting right there.In fact the entire voice cast was terrible. Can't remember if there was an option to turn it of and just have the arcade intro....but there should have been!
The music is beeter on my Sega CD version. Graphics are a bit better on this version, but I will take my Final Fight CD anyday. Still wanting to get Final Fight Tough, but a bit pricey for now. Might get it at a later time.
Excellent gaming here. Good job. I have to admit, the arcade version clearly smokes the SNES. Really gives off that "early Nineties beat up dem punks" street vibe. You can almost smell the tobacco, trash and bodily fluids. Shame Nintendo censored some of it for their console version.
Also, the arcade soundtrack is exquisitely raw. It sounds like you're in a dingy, dangerous club in New York circa 1984. The SNES port smoothed out the instrumentation and made it more "advanced" to show off the console's newfangled sound channels. It is certainly a "better" sound, but doesn't fit the game as well.
I say this any mayor that will go out into the streets and fight crime like that should be a Mayor for to that city like The Simpson Mayor Quimby Family Guy Mayor West and Fairly Odd Parents Mayor of Dimmsdale lol
It's also why beginning with Street Fighter Alpha 1, the Final Fight cast begins to take up a big chunk of Street Fighter's canon. Capcom even added Maki to the GBA and PSP versions of Street Fighter Alpha 3, she was the female hero in Final Fight 2. @@BlackPopeye44
Does anybody know why the jump + punch while grabbing changes it's damage? Is it random or is there any reason? Sometimes it makes a big damage and sometimes it's small.

I feel it is 50% of the remainder of the health of the enemy. Big guys with a large health remaining, such as Andre, will suffer a lot.
