I was considering quitting pointe because I wasn’t doing well (aka I was basically giving up) but this video HONESTLY and GENUINELY helped me see how far I could go! Thank you!
Sophie T I quit pointe early at 14 and I regret it so much at 22 😓 I'd love to get back on some day! Yes it feels awkward and painful and that you're not making any progress, but by working hard and training smart with good guidance from your teacher, you will definitely be getting better. It's hard to see improvement especially when you critique yourself, so be kind and persevere!
Oh! Don't give up! Stay positive and don't let the nagativity of the competitive ballet world get to you. I was a ballerina and traded my pointe shoes for motherhood, and although I wouldn't trade my little ones for the world, I still wish I had gone back. I love to see other young dancers succeeding through all the trials that pointe work brings :)
Keep at it, but don't rush it! Always gently roll up to pointe, and do ankle exercises. Don't hop up to pointe, or else you're asking for ankle issues later on.
How are you doing with it now a year later?
The thing is although you are very petite, you are clearly muscular and not skeletal whatsoever

I wanted to quit dance because I thought I wasn't good enough then I watched this and thought I should be positive and I have natural talent because I don't do dance outside of school. My family doesn't have enough money to get me into classes and for dance shoes sadly. But thx Claudia U inspire me not to Quit dance.
I love this video! I danced waayyyy back (started at 4yrs old in ‘77 and quit at almost 19 in ‘92). I have to tell you my lucky leo was the Morella too! Bloch made the best leotards, I still wear their split sole flats for adult classes today and I’m 45! What a blessing you are to all the young dancers you coach and reach through this channel. Keep it up, you inspire even the oldest of us! My mom passed in Nov of 2016...I cried when you saw your mom in the video. They are always with us. Mwah!!! ❤️ Much love from California!
Claudia I have always loved and appreciated how you emphasise what a dancer does right when you give your corrections. Your choaching style is some of the most positive I have seen. :) you are so kind to your younger self and that shows how well you must treat your young students as well
Damn, girl! You were tiny! I love how you're like "aww! cute!" when looking at videos of yourself from being 15. Whereas when I see a video of myself from when I was 15 it's immediately like 😖😷

I know I’m kinda late but I am going to a competition in a week and I have been so worried because my coach said to just do a double pirouette instead of triple and like I’ve watched some videos of kids last year at this comp and most did triples, but listening to you saying that about clean doubles made me feel more confident baout just the double.

Your little slicked back bun is so cute omg. Like tight, shiny ballet buns that make you look bald are so nostalgic to me and make me think of my early recitals. I started late in life at like 15, and I would do full helmet hair for every class and be SO goddamn proud lol. I love hearing about the life of someone who was basically born into dance in a way. :P what a life.
Wow that was really cool. Thank you for sharing your experience! I think it most interesting how you feel your quality of dancing (ex: soft/adagio vs. strong) has changed through the years. Makes me want to watch my old videos too!

That was my first time knowing you, Claudia ^^ I LOVE your contemporary solo. Watched it many many times, and started to collect your pictures back then, before I spotted u in person in Singapore. Hahahaha. I showed your picture to my friend, asking her if you were the same person in the picture! But eventually I did not approach you because my friend said 'maybe not'. HAHAHA! So yah.. I thought u were a very special dancer and really wished you would have passed through to the final.
Omg I also had to cry at the end of the video of day 5. I really felt your disappointment for all the hard work you put in. But also wanted to mention that you were/are a beautiful dancer no matter what.

Hi Claudia, this was a really interesting video -thanks! I actually checked out these old videos of you when I first discovered your channel. I remember thinking that the choreography in the ballet solo you danced wasn't as 'pretty' as the other solos. I wondered if this put you at a disadvantage? -That you weren't able to show off your beautiful lines as much as the others purely because the opportunity wasn't there. What do you think now? Would you still choose the same solo?
