your guest was slightly incorrect about saying the fruit in your smoothie has the equivalent kind of sugar is your cake. The smoothie would have primarily fructose as its sugar whereas the cake would probably have table sugar which is a combination of fructose and glucose.
The body processes fructose and glucose differently, primarily due to their metabolic pathways and how they are utilized:
    Metabolic Pathway:
Glucose: It is absorbed directly into the bloodstream after digestion and is readily available for energy production in cells. It triggers the release of insulin from the pancreas to regulate blood sugar levels.
Fructose: It is metabolized in the liver. Unlike glucose, fructose does not stimulate a significant insulin response because it is processed differently.
    Storage and Utilization:
Glucose: Can be used by all cells in the body for energy or stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles for future energy needs.
Fructose: More likely to be converted into fat in the liver when consumed in excess. It also contributes to the synthesis of triglycerides (a type of fat).
    Effect on Blood Sugar:
Glucose: Raises blood sugar levels directly after consumption, triggering insulin release.
Fructose: Has a lower immediate impact on blood sugar levels because it's processed in the liver and does not stimulate insulin release as much as glucose.
    Digestion and Absorption:
Glucose: Absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the small intestine.
Fructose: Absorbed more slowly and primarily in the liver after passing through the small intestine.
In summary, while both fructose and glucose are sugars, they have different metabolic fates and implications for health when consumed in different quantities and forms (such as in fruits, processed foods, or sweeteners).

15 years ago I (unknowingly) ate yogurt with stevia for a period of time. It was a brand my mom used to buy regularly, so I didn’t pay attention to the fact that she started buying the „healthier“ version. I just noticed, every time I ate said yogurt I started having stomach cramps. So I avoided eating. After a while I randomly ate one again and that’s when everything started. I had such bad cramps and the feeling that I had to poop but nothing came out. I was sweating and almost fainted and begged my sister to call an ambulance. We’re still laughing about that btw..😂😂😂
Anyway… from then on I started having these “attacks”. At first they came every once in a while and then it became more often, until it became chronic. I was having constipation and diarrhea alternately alle time and started losing weight and looked like a drug addict. Came to find out, I have developed celiac disease. Mind you it took me years to find out and by then my health declined severely. I am 100% certain that it was caused by stevia!!!!

i quit 30 years ago buying and taking white sugar from azucarera española (the brand most consumed in my country) which is the only one causing diabetes. my mother died, partly from diabetes. here in spain almost everybody takes coffee and with that white sugar on it. i can tell because i worked as a barman at 15 different types of bars, restaurants etc since age 14. it is RARE like a green dog if some spanish took coffee without adding sugar.
i took coffee only when i was 16 years old, reason why i expereienced 3 entire decades of sleeping better than everyone i've met in person.
the honey heals the throat so i can keep screaming and singing exaggerately at least 40 minutes a day without losing the voice
a bit of honey in between takes or during the solo, then a sip of water, or even gargling. i consider this like doping on the olympics, i do get super good vocal takes, screams like kurt cobain in truly anger. then i don't lose the voice next day, or only partially.
there's better thing than honey for that, it's called própolis or propóleo, it's some sort of super honey preserved for the queen bee, but preserved in alcohol.

I think she's doing a disservice talking about sugar this way. The reason a smoothie is bad, is because it doesn't have the fibre that the fruits have. Cakes, ice cream, chocolate, pies, etc are all much worse for you, when compared to a piece of fruit.

    • @groundcontroltomajornong8085
      @groundcontroltomajornong8085 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Smoothies do contain fibre.. all the fibre, although the fibre is ''pre-digested'' (chopped up) due to the blending process. it's only the juicing process that removes most of the fibre (ends up in the pulp) ... both have their pro's and cons. The fibre in smoothies plays a role in reducing blood sugar spikes and is less burdensome on digestive processes and nutrients required to break down the fibre, however fibre also holds/traps many of the toxins (pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers etc) contained in the whole food. Juicing removes most of the toxins by tossing out the pulp, leaving behind nutrient dense water (juice) that requires very little digestion whilst furnishing the body with an abundance of nutrients including sugars... i've been a juicer (non-organic) all my adult life, and at 57 find myself in near perfect health and looking a little on the younger side.. not aging ''prematurely'' do to sugar'
I agree she's doing a disservice, but because she is making generalised claims that do NOT apply across the board, and are not supported anecdotally or scientifically.... as usual the nuanced variables involved in health and aging are lost in well intentioned yet somewhat myopic broad brush statements made to sound like irrefutable facts.

All sugars are broken down to glucose and fructose before absorption so the kind of sugar doesn't matter to your body, it's one of the two (technically there is also galactose) anyway.
What matters are fiber you had with it or if it was incorporated into a meal. Also what your macros look at the end of the day (did you have enough protein?).
Sweeteners are overall much better for you as at large you can consider them as lower or no kcal alternative that has realistically no side effects outside of very large consumption. Even then the worst that's gonna happen is your gonna get diarrhea.
You have to let go of considering things that are "natural" as better. Poison is also natural, as are sugars and saturated fats. Hell diseases are also natural. Good natural cancer anyone???/s

What? People think fruit's sugar is healthier?? Who the heck told them that lie?🙈
Fruits come with many other healthy stuff, and the cake only comes with endorphins 😅 That's the whole difference.

Ok, so I am not qualified to talk about any of this but generally I think it’s good no not drink a Red Bull in the morning with a bag of potatoes chips for breakfast.we just eat a ton of shity food in America. Next time you go into a gas station look how many of the products are just pure sugar.

I dont think this woman has enough knowledge on what she is talking about. Unfortunately/fortunately, people listening to this podcast are actually well educated already.

Because youtube won't be able to see the clips as different from the full interviews, an it ruins your channel in the algorithm.

Sugar isn’t a problem in a calorie deficit. If you want sugar just count your calories.. it really isn’t hard. Orange juice and sugar on oatmeal isn’t dessert, it’s fuel. Good luck with your crap sleep and high cortisol levels if you avoid carbs/sugar.

SUGAR is pure inflammation, eat oatmeal with raw hummus as it is not sweet yet tasty savoury and it will not spike your body x!
