I learned how to play this song almost a decade ago after only a year of learning guitar, I played it for my uncle who had been playing guitar for over 40 years and he said "if you can play that you can play anything" and that inspired me to learn more fingerstyle songs and to better myself and my guitar playing.

I agree with you that Sungha Jung is indeed an idol, a young statue. But arts and music should really be "unique." If you have ever played Masaaki Kishibe-san's works, you might feel his typical emotional depth! So comparison is unnecessary, mate.
For a beginner, this being your first song is incredibly impressive! I've been playing about 12-13 years, can't really remember exactly but I learned this in Year 9 (English School Years) which made me about 13-14 years old... I did this for my music GCSE and got an A*

Agreed! This song was my gateway into learning DADF#AD tuning, and since it was slow and even tempoed it was a good place to start. Now I don't even use standard tuning
