I don't quite remember where I heard this, but based on the comments, this could apply here: Star Wars is beer: mainstream, accessible, perfect for a good time. Star Trek is wine: Fancy, probably thinks too highly of itself, smart bordering on snobby. Dune is the hardstuff, vodka, whiskey: it just throws you in and doesn't hold your hand. Doctor Who is moonshine: stuff gobbled together, and could break you if you're unprepared for it.
Readers of the book series will attest to the fact that the characters are pretty faithful. Korey will probably be disappointed in how they develop given that so much of the characterisation is either, internal - or at arms length. No spoilers but since Martin mentioned Watchmen, think Dr. Manhattan!🤔😜

Dune: I'm Paul the choosen one. Dune Messiah: I'm Paul, I was the choosen one. Children of Dune: I'm Paul, remember when I said I was the choosen.....yeaaaah....lied.
This second movie finishes the content from the Dune novel. There is a follow up novel to Dune called Dune Messiah about Paul's life after this conflict on arrakis. Frank Herbert actually conceptualized it all as one book and had to shorten it at the end and make a follow up novel because the story was so big. That being said, it's Messiah that puts all of this into a bigger picture so I'm hoping they do a good job on part 2 and have Messiah, but I understand that would be very hard. Messiah is pretty bonkers!
Hans Zimmerman did the music & win an academy award for the score. It won 6 academy awards! DV said there is 1 hour of Action fight scene. There may be a 3 in a few yrs called Messiah which will end the Paul Trilogy. Paul in part 1 was being taught to lead.he was suppose to be 15 yrs old. Now it continues…. She be off the charts
With them being very elusive about the first one being part 1 (DVD and BR still don't show it on the packaging), it wouldn't surprise me if there will be a part 3.
Not a lot of people know they made a minisiries out of this from 2000 and another called Children of Dune from 2003 they were both pretty enjoyable to watch too
I liked them better than Dune Part One, at least I liked Frank Herbert's Children Of Dune better, Frank Herbert's Dune had goofy costumes among a few other issues; and they both covered more than Dune Part One did within the length of time that Dune Part One had, they were longer, but probably covered more in the first 2 hours (especially characters that were skipped in Dune Part One).
In the book, where the story comes from...... Paul is a 15 year old kid. He is suppose to act like a 15 year old kid. The actor played him perfectly. Part of the story is how a 15 year old kid can grow into a great leader through his experiences. Him not being charismatic is part of the plot. Again was right on point. But if you did not read the book....... I see your point. But if they made Paul the character he becomes right at the beginning of the 1st movie........... That would have negated the whole point of the story. A "Catch 22" .....
I may be the only one who noticed but did they fix the painted light that was behind Cory? It always bugged me that it was overlapping the pole for years but its not there anymore
The unfilmable parts are in part 2. Part 1 was easy. It's likely the first hour or so of Dune Part 2 that might be unfilmable. The TWO water of life scenes. The birth of Alia. The dialog heavy scenes, that will include multiple heavy hitter actors.
I was about to comment that Yeah this is Part 2/Conclusion of the first Book. If we get a 3rd that will be the 2nd Book aka Dune: Messiah. And from the way DV has been talking, DM is dependent on DP2 success, and DM will just be one movie.
Dune Messiah is the sequel to the first novel, Dune. This would be the third film if Villeneuve has his way. He should probably end at Children of Dune since that concludes the Paul Atreides arc.
