How nice that the Brothers Gershwin were represented by Helen Morgan doing the song, Do-Do-Do, in this recording. Wonderful rendition. Thanks for posting.
An utterly charming Broadway show tune, written by the great Gershwin brothers no less, and performed by one of the original Roaring 20s era stars. What's not to like?
Great to compare/contrast this recording with Victor's '26 release by Gertrude Lawrence, which only has a piano accompaniment by Tom Waring instead of a small band.
I think if u listen to Morgan's rendition without associating it to her usual repertoire it is enchanting, her beauty of tone and musicality carry it along. I agree it does not benefit from what Morgan can do for a song.. it is no "Bill" anyway ......
still great almost 100 years later.

Super excellent with very good interesting photos
This Gershwin song is a stroke of pure genius. I almost can't believe it.
Haven't heard this in 40 years. Charmant
I have not heard this song in such a long time. Thank you for posting this!

Shabannie Glad you like it! I have a posting of Gertrude Lawrence singing the same song: Gertrude Lawrence sings Gershwin "DO-DO-DO" (1926)
An alluring, tragic lady. One of the few (possibly the only?) torch singers who was a light lyric soprano. They're usually belters or chest voice.
Reminds me of when I sung this during my highschool choir
We must never reject real joy.
love looove
