Gotta love em thick on the hoof like that. To bad the market is taking a dump right now. Mills are shutting down all over Oregon. God bless our loggers.
Not many guys left now with all the mill closures and people taking jobs elsewhere...the guy matches his cuts which saves a lot of time when making the log and assures proper lengths...I considered becoming a faller when I was in my early twenties but never got in touch with anyone to apprentice under... hell most guys cannot even buck a log out of a tree that large ...I quit setting chokers in 1998 and went back to the job I was raised on... Construction Laborer which I have done since I was 16
When you watch this man fall trees, you understand while these men , are a dying breed . To apprentice under a man with this much experience would be a real education.
Lovely work. Quit the business to take a city job. Came to TH-cam because I miss falling. 'waded' through some dumb hicks until I found this great video. very professional. stay safe.
Thats why yall get paid the big bucks. This trade requires skill which you guys showed in this video. Those were some monsters esp. the last one. Very good job.
beautiful work gentlemen, beautiful work.. (born and raised in Cascadia, and my family started logging decades ago, too bad the environmentalists killed the logging industry)
Wow Mike you must be exhausted from working hard well my grandpa does the same job when he does it I get really scared of what may happen when he cuts trees down it scares me badly
Brad $$$$$ that's a big money tree and a lot of times there's only one lay that won't turn it to toothpicks, jacks ensure it goes exactly there with more precise lift than wedges..........that's a LOT of weight to lift
I wish they would turn some fallers loose on our National forest. Environmentalist have made a train wreck of it. Very dangerous fire hazard now days. Blow downs and rotting trees everywhere.

Jack or no jack? why not wedges ?
Looks like you get more control from a single point vs multiple wedges.
