I’d actually be interested in seeing this kind of thing mentioned in a game or on a show. I mean, what if they all DID eat according to realistic diets? Imagine the whole episode centered around Tails wanting to keep a natural love of meat secret from his friends- especially Cream- and forcing himself to be a complete herbivore for them. Or Knuckles having a taste for ants and not wanting the others to think he’s disgusting? Or both.
Well Sonic does like Chili Dogs and is an omnivore. And those things are made from mainly Picky (the small pig animals). So I don't think it's that weird or at least not unheard of.
The original Archie comics kinda goes into why the Mobians don't eat each other (Other animals) but long story short, they've developed a food source that substitutes those instinctual food cravings.
