UPDATE- Interlock system for portable generator

This is an update to a previous video I did a while back for this same setup. For some reason, the audio doesn't work well on the original.
I had a licensed electrician come out and install this for me. Very simple set up. No longer need to have lots of extension cords running all over the house. Just go outside, start the generator at a safe distance from the house (minimum 5 feet, with exhaust facing away) and then run the generator cord from the generator to the interlock plug. I chose to have my plug located near the electrical panel, mainly because I live in a condo style unit, and did not want to attach it outside. Typically, you would install the plug out back and then you wouldn't need all that long of a generator cord.

How did you connect the power inlet to the panel? Were you able to run it behind the wall?

Should i turn off main braker before pluging generator ,in case electricity comes back?

Hi. I have a 200 amp main panel and another 200 amp sub panel next to it. Do I need 2 interlock kits and 2 double breakers or just 1 set in the main panel.

Unfortunately, I am not an electrical contractor, and cannot comment on this. Sorry, don’t want to steer you wrong. Definitely contact a local electrician and see what you need.
