    Congrats on making it into the Space Force! I just applied to the recent board for the 13S career field. It would be interesting to hear what space training is all about, how long it is, when you receive your first assignment, when you are assigned your specialization(ie...Missile Warning), how long specialized training is, and if you can put in a good word for me. I promise I am awesome :). I look forward to more videos!

    USSF is just the USAF Space units under a different branch. Sounds like a big change but the change is really just the chain of command and making Space Force more agile and able to acquire funding directly. Depending on which Corp you are assigned to will determine how your future is and potential for civilian careers as a GS or contractor.

    Thanks for the update on USSF! Cool news about the internship opportunities. That sounds so interesting, and I can't wait to see what that partnership will look like with these space companies. I'll be at OTS soon, graduating February 2021 directly into USSF for 13S. I know there was an AD and civilian USSF board that just submitted packages for OTS selection. So, hopefully we'll see many more officers join the ranks in FY21! Looking forward to learning the ropes and starting the training. Keep it up, space warfighter, and semper supra!

    • @MrGlass-
      @MrGlass- 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminkruah6680 well I’m a 1N4 by trade myself. Most 1N0s love their job. You gotta be a good briefer and quick to ingest information for that career field. 1N1s either love what they do or legit despise it because most end up at a DGS site which is not the coolest of assignments. 1N1s are geospatial analysts. If you want to be an intel officer, that would make you a 14N ultimately.
      I’m a SSgt (soon to be TSgt) and have been around the block a little so I may be able to answer your questions as well.

    I’m 34 and graduated with my bachelors in 2018. I didn’t have the best GPA because I took a 12 year gap and I had bad grades when I first went into college and getting my GPA to a 3.0 was impossible. My question is, does age and GPA play a big factor in the selection process for an officer. Do they look for people in their 20s over people in their 30s? I love your channel!!!!

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I would say that GPA does play a pretty big factor, but there is no age discrimination. As long as you make the age cutoff. They look at the whole person concept, so if you have a great background in work experience and good AFOQT scores than it can balance low GPA.

    With no pilots, the Space Force will probably have the least astronauts selectees among all branches? Thoughts?

    Thanks for your videos! Quick question here. I am a non-prior looking into commissioning into the Space Force in a few years. I have a wife and a kid. What kind of work schedule would a Space Force Space Operations Officer have? Just wondering if the job is family friendly.

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the first few years, depending on location and unit, you will most likely work on the operations floor that is manned 24/7. Each unit is different with their schedules (how many days on/off and how many hours the shifts are). However, space is least likely to deploy. So it all depends on what unit you go to and how long you are on crew.

    Annoying that whenever I Google Spaceforce. Before I find any information on the branch. I have to sift through articles and link about that stupid Netflix Movie first. Idk how they were allowed to name a show after an actual military branch. There is no shows or movies called MARINES, AIR FORCE, ARMY OR NAVY.

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally get the frustration! People got very excited or confused about the idea when it was introduced to the public. The Netflix series helped publicize our branch, although in a different way... but it got people interested and start asking questions. I’m trying to answer as many questions as possible to help!

      If you want your marriage to fail and be apart from your children go for it! The military really is no good for married men bro I'm just being honest. There's a saying spread among soldiers that goes "if the military wanted you to have a wife they'd issue you one". With all that said, live your life.

      The USAF is the most family friendly branch! If it’s calling you, you can at least try! See what you qualify for and if it interests you. Make sure your family is on board also. And try to figure out where you could potentially move with your jobs of interest so you can have an idea. I believe the USSF will be even more family friendly because there are very minimal deployments and most of the units are in CO so you could potentially have a career with minimal moves.
      Your experience can really vary a lot in the USAF. I’ve been to units that are really family friendly and I’ve been to others where it’s a hard balance. Typically those difficult units have a high ops tempo. However, everybody’s opinions will be different. I think it’s all depending on your mindset and family strength. Military members typically marry and start families very young and I feel like that is a huge factor to family issues. So you have the advantage!

      The timeframe for Army/Navy space requirements to move to the Space Force remains in FY22/23. Although legal provisions exist for other services to transfer to the Space Force, the current focus is on transferring the over 6,000 Airmen from the Air Force to the Space Force by mid FY21. We understand there is excitement for Space Force across all services right now. Space Force will release further details for a limited inter-service transfer program for other sister services for FY21.
