Best Ever Fried Green Tomatoes | An Early Summer Treat

  • So many tomatoes, but not a single one is turning red yet. That's ok...we are starting a new summer tradition here on the homestead...first big green tomatoes of the season are harvested to make several batches of good ol' fashioned fried green tomatoes. The kids love helping me dip them and everyone gobbles them right up. It's that first real taste of all the goodness that the summer garden will bring!
    Fried Green Tomatoes
    2 large green tomatoes sliced 1/4 inch
    Bowl #1:
    1/2 cup flour
    Bowl #2:
    2 eggs with milk beaten
    Bowl #3:
    3/4 cup cornmeal (optional + 1/2 cup flour)
    Add to taste salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and 1/2 tsp baking powder
    Fry in avacado oil in well -seasoned cast iron skillet.
    Salt and ENJOY!
    *My husband loves them with hot sauce!
