- Parkrun returns, with JOG ON at Southampton parkrun. Parkrun is back.
On October 2nd, 2004 the Bushy Park Time Trial began, later renamed to parkrun, this free, weekly 5K has grown into a global running community.
After 1 year and 4 months without it, parkrun returns with a bang. Southampton parkrun, the 2nd largest in the UK, seemed like the perfect place to welcome parkrun back. It was also a great opportunity to try and go sub 20 at a parkrun for the first time in a while.

This video actually made me a little emotional. I ran my first ever parkrun two weeks ago and finished at 22:48. Not too bad for a 55 year old who had only taken up running last year. The sense of community within the runners is something else. Everyone is there to run and be a part of the day. Never thought the simple act of running would be so life affirming. Lovely video Harry. I moved from Essex to Ireland in lockdown so still waiting for it to return here. Currently scrolling TH-cam for my parkrun fix on a Saturday morning so really appreciate this content. I ran Southampton parkrun in 2019 when I was there for a stag do, lovely course.

We had 709 finishers on the Common this morning, 148 more than last week. I only mentioned this because you remarked on its remarkable length, but the finishers' funnel proved too short and a second lane was required.
To keep us moving the marshals enjoin us to jog after passing the line: I think, in future, a team of wheelchair pushers may be required to get the more exhausted runners to the barcode collection point.
Certainly a great feeling to be back at parkrun. I must add Southampton on to my list for a bit of parkrun tourism. I've done several of the larger ones but not that one yet. Great video, as always and a quick time 👍

You absolutely smashed it!! Great time Harry 💪💪 I was back at my local parkrun - Raphael Park in Romford, Essex. Managed 23:31 4th lady, first in age group. Not my best time but was good to be back 😊😊
Another great video. Love parkrun and love volunteering, really enjoyed today's video especially the volunteer interviews. Today was my 50th parkrun (Southwick Country parkrun 22:34) and 23rd time volunteering (post-event close down). After such a long time it's fab to be parkrunning once again. Great running Harry, that last KM was lightning 🌩

such a great final km and a great video on top. ukele band seems so hype haha and maybe if you had a bright orange buttonup shirt you could've joined that guy. did my first actual parkrun after starting running in lockdown one and just finished my second this morning. 25 minutes and 24 today, but still working back to my pb of 22:30 and then will try to surpass that. already thinking of trying to do the alphabet of parkruns in the future as well but plenty of time for that 😌
Thank you Oli - the ukele band was the real highlight; parkrun is just an excuse to get near to the band members.
I wish you all the best with the 5K training - keep that 22:30 in your mind as you train, the relentless focus on something like that can really drive a person to do great things.

I certainly missed parkrun, while I can't go along to Southampton cause of finishing uni and moving away from the area, I still find it such an exciting event to look foward to each week. Even better I PB'd last week with a 22:08 from my old Southampton time of 22:43 which just made it all the better. Though I can imagine that new route is a tough one with the steep hill twice xD
A great time, sub 22 is right there for the taking. Yes, it was definitely a little tougher than expected going up that incline a second time, it's just surprisingly long

How do you keep up the talking and cheeriness when you’re basically doing a time trial?! I just want to die and hate the world when I’m pushing that much.

What you don’t see yellowfolder is the gasping in between filming, I think a degree in theatre has also helped to mask the internal pain.
